I had promised at least a couple people in the past few I'd look stuff up for them in my OMC manual. I've lost track of the threads. Gear ratios come to mind on one post. I apologize as I just dug the manual out of the shed today. Don is the floating encyclopedia and I have seen few questions he couldn't answer extensively and knowledgeably particularly with ODs. Evidently there were a couple! (probably in the head!)
The manual is a complete OEM 1989 p/n #557759 service manual...covers all motors, o/d, troubleshooting, the trim sending unit not on mine:confused:, all systems, necessary tools, techniques, etc., etc. (This thing has to be worth a furtune).
Soooooo...if anyone needs info.....I'll keep the book handy until my wife gets tired of looking at it lay on the coffee table! I'll be more than happy to look stuff up for ya.

LOL
The boat is a '69. She originally had a straight six with the boot OMC O/D. The previous and original owner repowered in '89 with a 4.3 and the Cobra. I even have the receipts. He could have bought a new boat!
The manual goes with the boat - and the boat ain't going anywhere.
I'm happy to share though.:)

I can come up with all kinds of good information for Volvo Penta and Mercruiser. However, OMC is not in my book of manuals or other good information. Sorry.

You're too modest...I've seen you tackle a few questions.

Chief,

I actually have a compilation of OMC tech manuals in PDF format going all the way back to '64. Lots of files - almost 700MB worth!...if there is anything you or anyone else would like me to look up - feel free to ask. I'll look it up for you and send you the page(s) via email.

Thats nice, where you get the d/l from?

And i appreciate the offer.

Thank you.

I don't have spare parts for cobras but stingers, yes.

Spare alternator probably won't need, front motor mount for a 3.0 don't need.

Spare starter for a 3.0.

Oil pump from a 140 hp merc 85'.

Flywheel with good teeth from same motor.

The whole transom assembly merc 85 but not the drives.

All from the donor boat.

Coupler too.

Maybe someone will read this needs some thing.

If you could scan and post the section on shift cable adjustments and the bell crank adjustment when the drive is removed.
That could possibly be put in the FAQ section.

So many people pull the Cobra drives with no clue how to adjust everything when it goes back together.

I had 2 of those manuals.Gave the buyer of the boat one.
We had a new member that talked me out of the other one for 25 bucks a couple years ago.I even met him in Daytona Beach Fla and gave it to him in person. I was down there anyway.
He also got a complete OEM shift cable kit with the factory OMC directions and all the small parts for the linkage for 75 bucks..
Man i gave him a great deal.....he never posted again..

I just recently bought the same factory manual through eBay for $65 brand new in the shrink wrap.

Before I bought that one I got some funky manuals in pdf format that reach back to the 1960's as well. Some jerk had this manual along with a scanned Seloc manual in one big pdf, put his name across every page, and reserved rights to the contents!

Anyway, if anyone needs anything from either of those sources, I am also willing to help out. :)
