OK then, not to be selfish or exclude anyone, but let's do this thing.

Adams County Petenwell Campground.

July 7th weekend.

I know a couple of you may not be able to make it for the full weekend, but I think the rest of us will do our best to help you out, so you can maximize your time.

I for one, will have my grill, and screened cooking tent with stove, table, lights, and cookware, and I will have an extra sleeping tent along.

So, WillyB and wildbill, if you can make it, and want to travel light, feel free to share my facilities.

Ralph and Joel, you are welcome too, but bring your own tent because.... BECAUSE ! :^ 8)

I may be there as early as Wednesday the 4th, depending on if I can get someone to tend to my animals. So if anyone wants to get in an extra day or two of fishing or camping, feel free to join me.

I'm having trouble with the online maps for some reason.
If you mapquest for 1940 Big Horn Drive Arkdale Wi, you will get a map.


Directions:

From the Twin cities or NW Wisconsin:
Take 90-94 to Tomah
Exit Hwy 21
East on Hwy 21 to County Hwy Z
North on Z to Monroe Center, Go west on Big Horn Drive

From Madison-Chicago, or south of Milw:
Take 90-94 north from Madison to I-39
North on I-39 to Coloma exit, Hwy 21.
Go West on Hwy 21 to County Hwy Z
North on Z to Monroe Center, Go west on Big Horn Drive

From West Bend-Oshkosh-Green Bay:
Take 41 to Hwy 21 exit at Oshkosh.
Go west on 21 to county Hwy Z.

theres a bait and genral type store right on the corner about 1/2 mile up from the park. there was a really good restrant in big flats.
wi rapids is only 20 min away lots of hotels there

Cool deal roscoe. I have that weekend free, so now I'll have to run it by the boss. Not sure who'll be attending from my family yet, but I'll let everyone know. I may get up ridiculously early Saturday and try to be there by 7AM or so and just spend Saturday night.

I received the new campground brochure in the mail today.
It looks like they have added about 100 additional sites, and more docking in the harbor. If you look at the map in the link above, the new sites are located off to the left. Gonna make choosing the sites kind of tough.

Close to the showers and bathrooms, close to the launch and docks, or off at the other end for a bit more privacy?

Perhaps the choice will be obvious once we are there and can see the options.

Ok, so now you all have to gather up your friends and family and bring them to the shindig.

Don't worry about stumps on Petenwell fellas, the areas where there are lots of stumps are bouy marked and the lake maps are good too. Down by the dam there is a big stumpfield and the upper part of the lake at the river mouth is stumpy but the main lake is deep and safe. There are lots of nice bays too. Last time I was on Petenwell there was absolutely no wind for 3 days straight which was unusual but nice.

Anyone know what the moon phase will be that weekend?

Well, sounds like my family and I will be attending this year as well. Got the boss's approval. Be a short weekend for us, but last year was a blast.

Sounds like you are familiar with the lake CK. I looked at a map, and there are some narrow channels. Any of those by chance navigable? Just curious.

sanger that depends on water level it's a big lake and a fun one to play on you can find a spot thats yours to ski and play take care of that knee i want to see you bare foot this year

I picked up a Hot Spots map and have been looking at it for a few days.

The map even shows where the obstruction buoys are.
There definitely are some areas to avoid, so you might want to invest the $7.95 and get yourself a copy of the map.

Good to hear you are bringing the wife and son along sanger.
We need to get a few more families involved, to make this a well rounded affair. Its always good to see some kids having a good time on the water.

Maybe pjc will bring his kids this year.
And we need a few kids to use as mosquito bait. 8)

Not sure when I am going North this year. I'm thinking end of May first of June this year. Looks like I may miss this one.

Would love to Jeff, but will be in Canada with dad.
Seems he decided not to sell his trailer up there, "because he wanted me and his grandsons to enjoy it for another year or two".

Will be up there the last week of May, hope we don't get a late winter storm.

Best time for fishing are on a new moon and a full moon. Moonrise and moonset also affect fishing.
