ANYTHING with bigger print

You can change the size of the print on most any web page by holding down the ctrl key and scrolling your mouse wheel forward/backward.

NOT in the damn reply box...I know computers

You can always use the size ['s to make bigger print of what you are typing.
As in, Like this

OK, I got it BIGGER. How do I get it smaller?

Well, I don't know what browser you are using, but in mine, I can set a minimum type size that the browser can use.

browser preferences-advanced-never use type smaller than ___.

And yes, it works in the reply box. I can set it all the way up to 24 point.
Any larger than that and I can change it with the "universal access" feature in the operating system.

Re: From Admin - Will you accept another forums system change?

Oh for chrissakes...BIG, small...heres the first post.

"We did a forums software change about a year ago and quite frankly we hate it! We are not happy with the number of you who can not log in or have problems posting. We are not happy with the speed of these boards. We have a list of 20 bugs that the developer won't / cant fix. I could go on and on....

We are thinking of changing to vBulletin boards software. This is one of the most widely used programs out there. Along with the change will be dedicated new hardware (servers) so your boards will be much faster. I am sure that during the transition there will be some bumps but think about it...can it get much worse?

Now, I want no one to "shut up". I'm retired, spend half my time knee deep in motors, and half my time on this puter. I can rebuild a carb blindfolded quicker than a reply is posted after going through a spell check (my own software) that catches every thing in the header on down. Its the body of the reply that is infuriating. If you don't check off the "Return to forum" you go back to where you were. But I like to see how my post came out (its the small box thing again) so then you have to either retrace back to where you started, or move to another forum, and come back. And did I mention the slow thing? The original question was IBoats does NOT like this software, and I agree. Now I'll shut up. I don't know why this is not posted on every Forum and pinned, as very few of us deal with the DC basement crowd. If it wasn't for a I/O post , I never would have heard of it. Just my 2 cents, and the world won't end one way or the other (I hope). 8)

This makes no sense to me at all.
Setting a minimum type size, will only increase any lesser type, up to the designated size. It will not increase any type that is equal to or larger than the minimum designated size.

I'm outta here on this too.

Re: From Admin - Will you accept another forums system change?

well, i didn't read the second page of this thread. but, i did scan it. type size? is that an issue?
i gots cable broadband. presently it works mostly ok for me. i will say it is intermitant. sometimes real fast, sometimes a drag and real slow. with broadband?? so i'm gonna vote for a change. i've looked at lots of different boat forums. this one is where it's at for me. i aint goin no where. the folks here are most knowledgeable. + they is right friendly. i'll be patient. only thing i'd comment on is that the search funtion used to be better......much better......i'll go vote now.......got's to vote. democrateic society ya know...:)

Re: From Admin - Will you accept another forums system change?

Hi iboats, esp. Admin 5, and thanks for thinking about us.

This is my first post (from UK), but I have been an almost daily visitor for about two years. I was 'hooked' by a masterclass on a Tower of Power saltwater stripdown by Clams, and just have to say a big THANK YOU to Iboats for providing the platform, and to the small group of VERY experienced and knowledgable experts who very generously share their knowledge and expertise with the rest of us.

I found you by luck. I went to the Marinepower Europe forum, and very fortunately, a fellow visitor, equally disappointed by the lack of response there, suggested iboats. My thanks to him!

I reckon speed is a major factor, and if an improvement in speed and functionality will retain your experts ( Laddies comes immediately to mind, as I am a Merc. owner ), and will attract back Clams and others I recall from the old forum, GO FOR IT! Also, any post of this nature would be incomplete without a 'Thankyou' to JB and the mods. I like the clean and polite control of the forum.

Thanks again. I hope iboats and the forum continue their success.

Btw, I found this thread via a link by Plainsman from a new post by Clams. Thanks to both!

Old data MUST be retained for research.

I think if you update you would get more users which is important to you as a supplier as well as other users.

Please keep old data for research purposes

Re: From Admin - Will you accept another forums system change?

How about a change BACK to the forum software before this one was ever inflicted on us ?? Hmmmm? :D

Maybe I missed something, but I can't recall anyone ever complaining about any specific problem with the Old Forum that warrented a radical change.

I always thought they hired a new IT guy, wet out of college, that felt he needed to make a mark on things, or install something only he understood so as to get job security.

Yup! It's about time to scrape off the barnacles and do whatever it takes to get this boat into shipshape, i feel that our Downunder members have been somewhat unintentionally neglected.

Some other sites I visit use vBulletin and I've found it to be very satisfactory.
