Re: Glassmaster SIL project .

So I am at work . Chris is working the night shift so I assume he is prolly sleeping . I get a text with picture of nice red ."look what I just caught" ! After a few choice exchanges of me voicing my displeasure of him fishing while I'm at work he sends another pic "waup just landed another one " !! :cold:
Then he calls a little later . Ummm would you mind cleaning my fish when you get home I got to get ready for work ..
:mmph:
Oh well At least I get to eat em !

:joyous:

Re: Glassmaster SIL project .

Well I hate to say it but this project has been put on hold for a while . :cold:
With Chris and my daughter buying there first house the time and money for the boat is gunna have to wait a bit longer . They bought the place for very little but it does need some work . Right now we are up to our neck in a full 2 bathroom remodel . They are still living with us while we work on it . I have never seen so many layers of floors in my life . :faint2:
The place was built in the 40's . All rough cut 2.25 x4.25 lumber . Tongue and grove hard pine floors walls and roof . Galvanized supply and cast iron waste lines . :facepalm:As you can see we have our work cut out for the next few weeks .
I'm not giving up on the GM but it will be a while before we can get back on it ..
Have a great sunday !

Looks like you have your hands full sp..

That was built when 2x4s were a real 2x4..

I would rather be working on my new house than a boat any day..

Good luck with all the work ahead..

I ran into 3 layers of floor tile upon floor tile in my 1953 house, when I remodeled...almost 1200 square feet worth, different levels and half of one section covered in carpet...
Hey, on the boat thingy...Rome wasn't built in a few weeks either and a home is a much more important thing than the boat, unless of course it is a live aboard yacht...;)
Don't you worry none, we'll be here when the time comes...:D

Wish I was closer. I'd give ya a hand. That's right up my alley. I just finished helping my daughter do a lot of that kind of work on a "Flip" house. She just put it on the market today. Let me know if I can be of help. Got a lot of experience in the remodel business!!!

Jimminy crickets, wood....is there anything you can't do? You're like a superhero! I, for one, wish you lived closer too! Sam, we will ALL be anxiously awaiting your next floating project, but until then, roll up your sleeves & get busy on that bathroom. It's a very important room in my house of 5!!

Thanks Woody ! Unfortunately I have a lot of experience in remodel also . At home and work . When your poor that becomes a necessity ! :D

Yep one of those rooms ya can't live without ..
Chris wanted to go ahead and move in but with my input on what all had to be done it made sense to get that room done first . My daughter was the voice of reason with Chris . :fish:
After the bathrooms and the master bed rooms get done they will move in . Then the next will be the kitchen .

Exactly, that's how I got started. It turned into a business back in the late 70's and early 80's. I enjoyed the challenges but...I was always amazed at some of the "Imaginative" methods that some people used to build things!!!! I've since discovered that boats are NO exception!!!!

You have to use the throne SP, before you can use the boat! Don't work to hard, and be sure to stay cool with some frosty beverages. :peace:

Yep SBB your right, unless ya got a throne on the boat . :D

Working on this for a few hours after work it's gunna take a while . Managed to get the bad wood replaced and thing leveled up . Almost finished with the waste lines . Going to run a new 2 " line over to the kitchen and that will do it for the waste . Next up will be setting the tub , installing the supply lines, finishing framing the dividing wall and new tile shower stall .

Really good looking plumbing work, sir...from just looking at the pics I have learned a lot...
Two things...
I like the use of the auxiliary grab handle on the shovel...
And a question about the plumbers strap for the PVC...
I am not in the construction trades and only have a vague notion of the stuff used, but is that PVC plumbers strap actually available in places like HD or Lowes? Just curious, cause I had never seen that type, which from this distance looks like some kind of plastic...?

BTW, one of these...

Plus, some of these...

And one of these...

Make for a great extended boating excursion throne...:watermelon:

Happy Friday!:D

Yep he's lucky or maybe I'm unlucky . Luckily my nephew is a real plumber . He came over and drew up a nice plan for us and gave us some good tips . We're doing all the grunt work .

Doubledoodie bags ..
Got the straps a Lowes . My nephew said to use them instead of the galv metal ones . I'm good at plumb and square but know just enough about plumbing to keep me out of trouble .

Uummm was that hot on the right or left ?

Re: Glassmaster SIL project .

Got the new waterlines installed all the way back to the well pump . So the plumbing is basically DONE ! :) Best part is we had zero leaks .. I do still need to run 2 vents up through the roof . Next up some wiring up grade then we can work on stuff we are good at ..
Making things pretty ... :p
Hoping everyone is having a wonderful Easter !
