Well...At least it's NOT a TINNER!!!!! You won't BLEED to Death working on it!!!:D:eek:

Funny you said that .. The guy's dad had a old late 60's early 70's tin V-hull sitting back there also . He got it for the o/b for 300 bucks . I probably could have offered a 100 for it and he might have sold it . If I can figure out how to down load from my Iphone I got a picture of it ..

Thanks Decker This will probably be a winter project . Gotta take care of some other important projects first .. ;)

Not what I was expecting, but still a nice hull, it'll make a fine addition to any boat shed :D

Hey SP, finally got all the way through this post.

I think you're SIL is gonna have one heck of a River Monster when you guys are done. Great work on the transom! I'm almost to that point and I have gotten all motivated again, so thanks Sam!

Oh, on the "Tin Canner", I gave up wood n nails and traded it for aluminum n epoxy. Us Airframers get to work with AL all day long and when we get a KEVLAR or Graphite part in, the mechanics are fighting each other to get to work on it.

Thanks for stopping by MP !
Unfortunately this project has been put on hold for a bit . The sil has been spending his extra $ on their fixer upper house instead of fiberglass ..
Got my eye on a Key West that has a little fire damage that I could grab for real cheap . Very fixable . Another project ...

Well it's getting about time to resurrect this project ... Kids and all there animals are all moved into there place and the girls boat is almost done .. Need to go check out a different glass supplier here in town that a friend told me about .. Started a new hospital complete floor remodel ... I'm getting a good jump on it so maybe we don't have to work 7 days a week to keep on schedule ... :)
Hope everyone has a great start to the week !!!

Always welcome nm !!
The girls were out buying a new tow rig for the Ouchita today so I actually did a bit of work on the GM .. I finished cutting out the rest of the front deck and stringers .. Got to try out my new dremel multi max tool . Kinda hard to get to but managed to tear it out ok.
I'm going to have to make some extra long stringers so I was contemplating the best/easiest way to splice them .. I guess butt splice or kerfed ..

How thick you gunna make dem dere stringers? If 3/4" and you can find some decent 3/8" plywood then I'd recommend using the 4' overlap method. If you can't find any ACX 3/8" ply then I'd just do the 3/4" butt joint and "Sister" a 3' piece of 1/4" on either side of the joint. If you glue and screw that it'll be as strong as one piece construction.

I think that a 1" stringer is a little easier to get the glass to wrap over the top. I used three pieces of "3/8" (actually 11/32) with butt joints and overlapped 4', which gave me 1[SUP]1[/SUP]/[SUB]16[/SUB] ". Oh and I clamped it really good! :D

I already have some ext 3/4 ply .. 3/4 was what it was originally ... I'll see if I can find some 3/8 ext and probably do the butt joint ...
Might need to pick up a few clamps just in case .. ;)

Well unfortunately or maybe fortunately  it looks like this thread will have to be abandoned to disappear in the archives .....
If everything goes through Chris is trading the Glass Master for a pickup truck ... So we threw the trailer back together enough to get it out of here and the 50 hp rude just pulled out of the driveway .... :pout:I 'm kinda sad a little .... Ok maybe not .. :joyous:
Now he has his eye on the Legend donor boat that I still have ... :suspicious:
Well I guess one yard ornament gone is a good thing ... He had better not bring it back !

Got the transom in and that's as far as we got ...
But hopefully once I get the admirals outdoor kitchen done I will jump back on the Manatee and get it ready to wet a line ...
