FYI Quarter Sawn Oak is Much more stable and less likely to warp than flat sawn. You can tell it's quartersawn by it's straight grain Striped Look.

The only foam i used so far is sandwiched between the inner and outer hull skins...none on the to deck. Ill probably fill the center bench seat and thats it.

Right now im just cleaning the shop area to set up for woodworking....

I believe the stuff im picking up is flat sawn....but for decorative finishes, it will be fine. I may try to use QS for the wales if possible.

You probably already know this... but just to reiterate, quarter sawn oak would be most desireable from a stability standpoint, and I've been lucky and found quarter sawn stock at home centers, especially in less wide boards. You can identify it easily without looking thru a whole stack too by just looking at the end grain. Look for the annular rings running as close to perpendicular from the face of the board as possible. Sometimes its hard to tell on oak because the medullary rays run perpendicular to the annular rings but heres a picture for reference...

My wife and I see sun sets like that all the time at the Jersey Shore. Once a while back I was in Ohio, I told a guy I met, we had beautiful beaches in NJ and his response was you have beaches in NJ?? All he ever saw of NJ was Newark Airport from the air. LOL

I tried goose hunting with my Iowa buddy in one of the wind turbine fields he helped put up in NY upstate not far off the lake. Didn’t realize there had been a drought and most of the resident geese had move elsewhere. Still saw some great looking country in PA and NY on my drive ending at my daughter’s house in RI, before driving back to TN. Since retired and moved to FL.
