REDFIELD, N.Y. (AP) - Whether it's a record or not, 141 inches is a lot of snow even for upstate New York. And, if that's not enough, there's more on the way.

"We're ready. It can't snow too much for people around here," said Redfield Clerk Elaine Verdon, whose small town is a mecca for snowmobilers and cross-country skiers.

Incomplete records prevent the National Weather Service from calling the 11 feet, 9 inches of snow that fell here over the past 10 days an official record, but it does beat the 10 feet, 7 inches that fell in nearby Montague over seven days ending Jan. 1, 2002.

Sure sounds like record high temps. to me. :p

Crunch don't you know that global warming is just that, warming on a global scale? Not localized.....as in North America! LOL

That's the BS I heard from one of the tree huggers on this forum....

Re: Global chillin update

Believe it or not. There are only about a dozen scientists working on 9,575 glaciers in India under the aegis of the Geological Society of India. Is the available data enough to believe that the glaciers are retreating due to global warming?

Some experts have questioned the alarmists theory on global warming leading to shrinkage of Himalayan glaciers. VK Raina, a leading glaciologist and former ADG of GSI is one among them.

He feels that the research on Indian glaciers is negligible. Nothing but the remote sensing data forms the basis of these alarmists observations and not on the spot research.

Raina told the Hindustan Times that out of 9,575 glaciers in India, till date, research has been conducted only on about 50. Nearly 200 years data has shown that nothing abnormal has occurred in any of these glaciers.

It is simple. The issue of glacial retreat is being sensationalised by a few individuals, the septuagenarian Raina claimed. Throwing a gauntlet to the alarmist, he said the issue should be debated threadbare before drawing a conclusion.

What a novel idea!!!

Re: Global chillin update

But surley all the pollutants that spew out of the northeast should be able to stop all this mayham.. I even heard that snowmen are being endangered in March and April. Where is the ACLU!!! I demand that the snowmen not melt!!

But it is funny that from the 1940's to the 1970's, we put out more CO2 in the air and we were headed to GC, now that we put out less CO2, we have GW. Wonder how that happened?

Have an answer? I'll answer that for you...I expect silence because you can't.

Re: Global chillin update

I've forgotten which party/politician is currently responsible for the imminent global warming disaster. Could someone please fwd their phone # and/or email ? It's currently 15* and I'm in the process of receiving 36" of snow here, and I'd like to lodge a formal complaint.
