Well sig has been lazy bum this weekend not.

Everything sparred all touch up paint is complete. Deck is supported with hatches cut. Seat lboxes were built and sparred carpeting is complete except for the forward deck. Final test fit consoles are installedand waiting. I have an alignment problem with the consoles and deck.

You are lazy! A recuperating Dozer would have done all that during lunch and polish some tin. :lol:

Is the new flooring thicker than original? Always messes up SS console fitment. :blue:

I just don't have a very shaky hand, I just got a new LG that actually has more megapixels than my digital camera I just haven't figured out all the stuff yet.


GA yeah I went with 5/8 inch on the floor which is messing with things a smidge, but the big issues is the angle at which the consoles come down they actually come in towards the bow. I am attempting to use that 3/4" at the back of the deck as an extra support system but the console angle is bumping into it not allowing the consoles to sit flush to the floor.

looks great sig, nice progress. your alignment issue looks to be complicated. changing that unpainted front plywood in pics to an angle may work, or cuting some away and using some trim piece. the bottom of consoles got to go ahead, which means trimming that unpainted front piece, or the top of consoles got to go back, which means a gap between consoles and that front piece, maybe trimmed out with something. i am sure you will gert er done.

YEP that is exactly the dilema you nailed it. I thought about trimming some off of the deck and cutting it to a bevel then beveling the ply to the floor and the casting deck.

We fixed our alignment issues. I cut the center stringer into three pieces shortened the deck by 1 inch and put a back bevel on the ply so that the front of the consoles slide in smoothly and snugly



The deck is fully mounted now and no give at all.

I also started on the ignition system for the Evinrude as well. I knew something was wrong as the flywheel came off way to easily.

This is what I found.




So ordering a new flywheel key and hoping that is the extent of the damage. Somebody was really hard on this old girl but I am going to have her tip top in a week.

I don't think the sheared key is what caused the no spark on cylinder 2 but it will cause the engine to come out of time so my thought is we lost spark on cylinder 2 the boat it was on wouldn't plane out. The previous owner went looking for the cause of said problem and pulled the flywheel and overtorqued it upon reinstallation. I think there was a combination of problems here mostly inflicted by the previous owner by himself. No Matter she has a new timer base and stator new power pack and all so the next owner will be able to run her for a long long time.

I have never heard of a flywheel key shearing on its own there is almost always another cause usually overtorquing the flywheel nut.
