Yeah I will never understand a tinny to glasser trade. Everyone cross their fingers for me on bending the trim back, and hope it doesn't just break that stuff is hard to get ahold of.

Re: Here we go with the 16ss

We need to get a best practices sticky at the top of the forum....

I know there's been more then 1 thread that showed pretty good details about their fabrication of a replacement transom cap. For the life of me, I can't pull the builder or thread title outta the gray matter......

Among other great details guys have shown in their threads. BF's patchwork quilt hull repairs come to mind too. As does Grandad's tower & bimini work and Glen's In The Red aluminum diamond plate details.

Re: Here we go with the 16ss

Hey guys no worries on the transom cap remember my uncle is a tool and die maker, he is actually using the CNC machine at work to manufacture me two brand new transom caps out of solid aluminum or stainless (whichever he has hands on first aluminum being the preferance), I had one that was cracked the other was MIA the buyer of this Tinny will never have to worry about cracking or losing another transom cap. The bent stuff is actually the starboard side rub rail channel.

Not only will it be awesome for the buyer all it cost me was feeding my uncle and his girlfriend a dinner which I would have happily done anyways.

On the flipper no less  Going for the shock & awe experience for the buyer.....

Aren't the transom caps the same for a 16 & 18ft's? I feel a swap w/ the Silver Lining's caps is in order.

I mentioned to him that there maybe a few other members of the Starmada out there what might be really interested in the same thing as well.

Also discussed the possibility of have an SS plate made up for the Silver Lining with the her name and the Starmada logo engraved on it as well. With all the lessons I have learned from Flipper the Silver Lining is about to get the executive treatment.

The Starcraft logo, for the side of the boat, in aluminum would also attract a few buyers. If it's the arrow logo, I could be interested in a set.

I thought about that as well and it isn't the size of the boat it is the year of manufacture and the splashwell design that makes them different they will not interchange.

Looks like you're down to bow/transom caps and trailer wiring. :D And whatever pops up that's not on the list. :blue: Is this on the list - Boat/trailer regos?

Douglas Lake by next W/E still in the cards, Sig?

Good progress Sig, I hate how a guy makes a list starts to complete it but every time you look at the boat and trailer another small item pops up that needs attention.

I am going to pay the sales tax on it this week so I can get her registered hopefully she is sold before I even get the numbers though.

Trim straightened out fairly well. Hopefully we are making smoke by Wednesday. Splashin is DEF in the cards for next weekend.

Here are the last remaining items.

Mount trim caps on bottom √
Mount bow piece√
Run trailer lights.
Mount windshield.√
Waiting on Transom caps (being machined)
Mount Controls
Test fire motor.

That's a pretty big chunk of work to get done, a very ambitious time table.

Nah, it really isn't to bad sounds more difficult that it is.

I should be able to knock out the first three tomorrow. Possibly even do the windshield.

The motor is mounted and the controls just need to be run under the gunnells.

I've already gone pretty well through the motor the L/u is back on it.
