Wow Me Bro posted a long one! Pretty good one too! Tree, You n' I went toe to toe on Bush's lies and ya found only one that the ol' brain cell can remember, (the button lip thread ). I think you got me on the statement about Rummy, but don't remember any others, do you? JR
Glutton for punishment are ya Omer?
The
evidence indicates that Iraq is reconstituting its nuclear weapons program ... Iraq has attempted to purchase high-strength aluminum tubes and other equipment needed for gas centrifuges, which are used to enrich uranium for nuclear weapons." -- President Bush, Oct. 7, 2002, in Cincinnati.

Department of Energy officials, who monitor nuclear plants, say the tubes could not be used for enriching uranium.
Omer's reply: I do remember that this story was contraversial; Tree. Please note the choice of words here by Mr Bush.
The statement is in fact accurate and not a lie, it is contraversial and there is "evidence" to support a contrary position or conclusion. This undisputed fact still does not make this particular statement by Mr Bush: untruthful or an INTENTIONAL LIE. (Lies by their very nature must be intentional: Tree my good man).
"The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa." -- President Bush, Jan.28, 2003, in the State of the Union address.
See Libby trial .
This whopper was based on a document that the White House already knew to be a forgery thanks to the CIA. Sold to Italian intelligence by some hustler, the document carried the signature of an official who had been out of office for 10 years and referenced a constitution that was no longer in effect
Omer's reply. I have no idea about any document you are talking about here. The Libby trial is about one thing, (and ONLY ONE THING), Tree: PERJURY BY MR LIBBY. Nothing more and nothing less. I've been to Court a few times, (don't ever want to go back either). Litigants will make all sorts of unsubstantiated claims in defence of their respective positions to try to win the argument in front of the Judge and Jury. Many times, (as a defence of their positions): parties will put up the "kitchen sink" argument where they throw everything at the other side to distract and obfascate, (hope I spelled that one right). Mr Libby's trial will only prove one thing: did Mr. Libby perjur himself to a standard of: beyond a reasonable doubt? The Brits STILL BELIEVE that Sadum tried to get yellowcake from Niger so I and most other reasonable people do not consider this a lie at all. I do think Mr WILSON is a BALD FACED liar though based upon findings of the US Senate.
"We believe [Saddam] has, in fact, reconstituted nuclear weapons." -- Vice President Cheney on March 16, 2003 on "Meet the Press."
FACT: There was and is absolutely zero basis for this statement. CIA reports up through 2002 showed no evidence of an Iraqi nuclear weapons program.
Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction. - **** Cheney, Vice President, Speech to VFW National Convention, 8/26/2002
We know where they are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat. - Donald Rumsfeld, Secretary of Defense, ABC Interview, 3/30/2003
Omer's reply; Tree we were talking about Mr. Bush. That said, you can not possibly know the
intent or
actual conviction of either of these men. They COULD have been telling the truth hear from their perspective. Tree.
Rumsfeld dubbed the insurgents who are making life so difficult for coalition forces, Iraqi authorities and anyone caught in the cross fire "dead-enders," losers from Saddam Hussein's regime with nothing left to do but go down fighting. Time Magazine 11/16/2003
Omer's reply: again we were talking about Mr. Bush. That said: this was the perspective of the Administration at that time. Therefore NO LIE HERE.
