Hey guys I'm still trying to solve my no start problem on my 2008 Tahoe q4 w/ the 4.3 Alpha One 1:81. I was doing some research and after checking the 90 amp fuse on the starter solinoid (it was good). I was told there is a 5 or 10 amp fuse on the back of the engine by the power steering cooler? I can't seem to find the fuse after spending 30 minutes in the back of the trasom. Can anyone shine some light on this for me? thanks guys...

I came here because the Tahoe forum isn't very busy haha

No fuse there. Is your engine MPI or Carb? The MPIs has a fuse block up next to the ECU with the main power relay and the fuel pump relay.. There is also a 15A fuse in the power wire behind the dash, in the ignition key circuit (all engines)...

Do you instruments come on you you turn the key to ON?

Those other systems have nothing to do with the ignition system. There should be a 15A fuse in the red/purple wire that goes to the ign. sw.

Is the fuse going to be under the dash by the key switch or in the back close to the engine?

Under the dash.

If its under there I sure don't see no fuse. Is there a fuse panel any where else on the 4.3s beside of right under the dash?

Dmoss, when you cycle the key to the run position, do the gauges respond? Did you have a alarm to indicate the key was on with engine not running(test mode?) If so will it still alarm? How about when you go to the start position? What exactly happens?

Sometimes the manufacturer builds his own harness, and yes it may be in the fuse panel. Find the red/purple wire on the ignition switch and follow it.

With your meter, set to voltage - black lead on a good ground - check for voltage on the B terminal of the ignition switch (red/purple wire). You should have battery voltage there at all times. Key on or off. Do you?

If yes to the above, turn the key to the run position and check for voltage on the I terminal of the ignition switch (purple wire) you should show voltage. Do you?

I will try this when I get home this afternoon. The back of my ignition switch is a little werid. It has like a squar block with gel type stuff in it and the wires going into the gel, so its hard to get any readings. This make sense?

It's not an OEM switch, but they all work basically the same, you have power coming into the switch and power going out. What color codes they have, I have no clue. Post some pictures.

If its not an OEM then what do they call it? And I will post some pics the afternoon after I get off.

My Q5 has a fuse box up in there (clear cover)... i would think yours wouldn't be much different. Doesn't seem like they have changed much in the past 5yrs...?
