Re: How does this deal sound for a Pontoon
$15800 for a 4 year old 18' toon, ya that is WAY high.
I don't know your market so maybe he is in line but it seems like an awful lot.
As for the boat itself Godfrey was a good boat back then, the company was purchased by 2 lawyers from Chicago 3 years ago and you can imagine how that turned out, couldn't give me one now.
I would keep looking and see what else pops up, lots of people wanting to move boat now.
Well that's too bad for Godfrey. Yeah, I hunted around the net and that is pretty darned high for that boat. Although the claim of 22 hours is super low for a 4-5 year old boat. Hardly used at all by that claim.
I priced new ones at 4 locations and, even a hail damaged 08 with a 90 HP Yamaha 4 stroke, 22 ft, (not a Bennington) cost $22k (not including taxes). Other similar ones cost $22 to 25K depending on motor size.
At Suntracker.com, going to their "Chevy" model, a 20 ft Party Barge is tagged at $13265. But that's with a 50 hp 2 stroke ELPTO engine. If you kick the engine up to a 60 hp 4 stroke EFI Bigfoot, then it jumps to $18065!
Add a trailer, ski tow bar, and a live well, and a troller, and it's up to $$20500. Then tax, $1700. So there's that magic price again.
My feeling about the Godfrey is that it's no savings. It's like a dealer price for a used boat (even though this is a guy who is moving and has to sell it). It's strictly a convenience thing with the boat slip. Assuming that's not a hassle. Good food for thought. Maybe I'll but a bid of $12000 on it.
