About 1/2 mile. Suits me fine. None live on the water here, lake is Municipal and has no docks or houses on it. It sure cuts down on the traffic and conjestion. On a busy summer day thier are seldom over 100 boats on the 20,000 ac. lake.

1 - 1.5 hours to Lake Mead or Lake Mohave,,, I usually figure 2 hours from leaving the driveway to on the water and fishing. Other lakes,,, 4-6 hours. Guess that's what I get for living in the desert.

The rest of you guys have it made!

Hey PJ,

Mc Neil, is a wonderfullly central spot to be in, I spent a lot of time bobbing around between Sointula and Port Hardy.
Is your West coast access Coal Harbour by any chance? Just wondering as I used to drive my old double ender from Alice to Coal Harbour a lot to play in the narrows and tidal whirlpools and photograph the K/whales and ocasional shark. I moved to Port Alice after that, and now live in Northern Ontario.
Lots of fishing either way.
Take care, PH.

Yeah...but,

I drive through there a lot, and just to make you feel good, I love that area and envy "desert living" sometimes, but at least you can get wet within a reasonable time! :D
Cheers, PH.

Re: How Far are you from the Water?

My place is 100 feet from my dock but I don't use it much.

The water is very good for fishing, but from the dock I can only boat for 1/8th mile as the dam for the lake is at one end and the railway bridge is at the other.
The bridge is just big enough to pass under with a 16 footer, but very tricky as the rocks under the bridge are sharp edged and shallow in a "V" shape underwater.
You have to navigate that in turbulent water, so that's a no go with a bigger boat.
The ramp to the lake is 2 minutes away, and other lakes are 15 and 20 minutes away, all good fishers.

Wow, ya we go all over out there. Tomorrow i am heading to Turner Island to fix a truck. We usually put our boat in at Rupert Arm drop the traps and fish our way over to Coal Harbor. Ive been through the narrows so many times its just a drive to work. Boy can the water ever rush though there. Ive spent many of days in Mahatta river working. Any one you would like me to say high to if i bump into them projecthog?

Re: How Far are you from the Water?

We're first-time boaters so we haven't dropped it in any water yet. But we live about a 3-wood from a small size all sports lake w/launch. We live in the western suburbs of the Twin Cities so there are lakes ALL OVER THE PLACE around here (that's why we bought the boat). We're about 10 minutes from the mother of all lakes: Lake Minnetonka.

Re: How Far are you from the Water?

man, i'm envious of you guys... 5 minutes, a stone throws away, 15 minutes, and the best is ladyfish hanging on a sling. "how cool is that" sums that up i think.... on and on. you folks are real lucky.
i guess i just thought i had it good. i'm 30-35 min. away from the boat ramp. 21 miles. or an hour away from the river at about 65 miles...
oh well, i guess i should be happy i'm only 30 mins. from the ramp. nebraska ain't exactly known for having lakes... or water for that matter....
BTW, no one here looks at you funny when you pull up to work on a Wednesday with your boat hooked up and the boss usually isnt mad when you ask if you can bail 15 minutes early to go fishing.

15 minutes to Lake Mead or 45 minutes to Lake Mohave.:D
Can't wait till they get that bypass bridge built for Hoover Dam.
I love going to Willow Beach. But getting stopped and searched both ways is a pain in the butt. Once it's done.......20 minutes to Willow as well.:p

About 20 minutes to a lake, about 50 miles from the Jersey shore, and 150 miles to my favorite boating waters on Long Island, NY.

Re: How Far are you from the Water?

Here in Texas, we're 5-10 minutes depending on which ramp we use. At our Missouri place, I walk out the front door, drop the boat off the lift, and pull away in under 2 minutes.
