What kind of warranty? OMC has been out of buisness for 10 years and I don't think they ever had a 10 year extended warranty.
At this time of year, 2-3 weeks is about normal turnaround for most repair shops. Have you called and actually asked them what the hold up is or when they expect to finish the job????

Sounds like the warranty work is over a new engine that the shop sold him.

2 weeks is when I'd start calling. 3 weeks is when I'd start getting frustrated. 4 weeks and I'd be on the verge of losing it.

Even if the shop's busy, that's not your fault. If they sold you a bad bill of goods, they need to make it right in a timely manner.

4 weeks. Extreme makeover home edition on t.v. builds a whole house from dirt to finished and fully furnished in 6 days. Wait don't they demolish on the first day.

I ain't in the shops shoes thats fixing the motor however they should have put him at the top of the line.

Agreed. Like I said, a couple of weeks is reasonable. 4 weeks is not. Somewhere in between would be "acceptable", but I wouldn't be happy about it.

Re: how long to fix spun bearing

Why is it always the shops fault? We have no info from the OP other than he wants to know how long to replace a spun bearing. Spun bearing on what???
Warranty, well, maybe, has nothing to do with how long to replace some spun bearing.

its inboard 3.0l omc its at a marine engine shop that sold the motor they installed new motor aug 30 2007 no i yelling at the place that sold me the boat i dropped it off to them june 29th

Anybody know what that means????? June 29th is well over 2 weeks ago.

And who cares how long G-D spent creating or how long extreme makeover takes to build a house. What does that have to do with anything, other than padding you post count.

Excuses, Excuses, excuses, if I were the customer i wouldn't want to hear them.

I would want results. What a part on back order?

You have my permission to deduct as many posts from my count as you see fit.

BTW I was joking didn't know you would take it all so seriously was not my intent.

Re: how long to fix spun bearing

If they just sold a rebuilt engine they got from a vendor then they have to get that vendor to fix or replace the item before they can re-install. That vendor may require an inspection of their own first to determine the cause of the failure and determine if it is covered or not. Also the warranty is for the goods and does not give any timeframe that it has to be fixed inside of. .

They may have 3 boats ahead of you that bought engines after you did, who knows. All they really owe you now is a status report of where they are in the process

To try to answer your question: The actual work from engine removal, teardown, re-assembly and re-install and engine run-in could be done in 2 days if the parts were ready and nothing else showed up as wrong in the engine. But again, they have to inspect it to make sure how it happened and if it is covered (damage was not from abuse), and if another vendor is involved then the time taken will most surely double or triple as their authorized return policy and process is engaged.
