hmm i also thought aluminum was a no no for inside hull mounting.... guess i will try it when i grab a finder here shortly fewer holes in the transom the better
Transducers are actually a little crystal device that, when hit by electrical impulses it vibrates producing sound waves and when hit by sound waves on the way back, produces an electric signal. Most ducers are either cut for 200kHz or 50kHz. Placed in the water like an outside mounting or inside as I mentioned they vibrate the surrounding medium and send out the waves. Once the sound is emitted, it then functions somewhat like a normal Radar like used for weather, where the signal is timed and as returns are received, they show up and the time delay is how the distance is measured.
So, on alum boats transmitting sound, when is he last time you spooked your fish banging around in your alum boat? As we both know they are renound for being noisy, i.e. easily retransmitting sound into the water.
