Agreed. My Canvas shop in Englewood was never busier than after hurricane Charley hit Pt Charlotte in '04. An added bonus was it took some people a year or more to settle their insurance claims. So a year later I was still getting business from the hurricane. I wouldn't wish it on anyone but hey, bad for them good for me.A natural economic stimilus package for those in the repair trades!
Yo YD I agree with you 100% about deaths caused by Andrew being grossly under reported. In addition to illegals & the homeless, alotta scores got settled in Liberty City that night. Though Katrina might be the winner in that particular category.
Those must be the po' folk seeing chandeliers twinkling in big houses up the hill across the street. While they remain in the dark ... No I doubt you'll be allowed to hear much from them.I have been reading stories of some select groups that cant get their stories/pics/vids out to the public.
YD.
Careful on the conspiracy theories ... they boarder very close to the political, and you know what we will do if this goes that way just a little.
Yeah never underestimate the power of Mother Nature. That new cut where the bridge used to be is most telling. I say leave it there.Aerial Photos of Hurricane Sandy Damage from NOAA's National Geodetic Survey
for before and after scenes, move your mouse pointer over the pictures .... truly remarkable

Uhh ... what?! Forgive me but I fail to see the conspiratorial/political link. Are you paranoid?Careful on the conspiracy theories ... they boarder very close to the political, and you know what we will do if this goes that way just a little.
please note that Wall Street had their power back on far before anybody else ...

I think the top one shows a fire that took out dozens of houses?
interesting to see all the "floating" piers rearranged, some with boats attached. It's a convenient method for fair-weather boaters but not the best system if you want something permanent.
inlets open and close. go back to maps from the 1800's (and earlier) and locate them; trace forward through the years. they will return.
