Well this just completes phase 2 of this customization project. I still need to purchase one more sheet of aluminum to finish out the stern project.

Looking GOOD!

What is the height from the deck to the rocket launcher? I was thinking of something similar but the overall height might be a bit tall for me?

Got a link for the lights? They look sharp and as I've found you can never have enough lights when pullin' pots at night..

Re: I/O to Outboard: 22ft. Sylvan offshore from 3.0liter OMC to Suzuki DF140

To the top side of the arch is 55 inches. To the top of the rocket launchers is 65 inches and to the top of the radar unit is 75 inches.

My boat is 32 inches deep so I have to step up on the gunwales to access the fishing poles. On my trailer my boats sits up to 57inches where connects so that makes it makes it 11 ft. to the top of the radar unit. But I hinged it so I can lay it down.
The highest point then becomes my rocket launchers which are 10ft. 2 inches that I can do. I could have lowered the arch 7 inches and gave my self about 1/4 inch of clearance over my canvas but I just said "No". It works, I am happy with it. As a matter of fact it came out so nice I am thrilled with it!!

PS the lights were purchased on ebay. Here is the light with free shipping. I got mine here.

Radar Arch Complete

Well the radar arch is complete, painted and mounted. it will need a little spot touchup after the install but I am happy with it.
The 2ft. extension for my GPS showed up today as well as my Bluechart card..... I am a happy man.

Oh hey I have to mount a light higher than the radar unit. I guess there is one more thing to do.... Wait a minute this ia a boat....there will always be one more thing to do.....

Chief? What Chief?? You know I actually bought that just for the trailer. Its a excellent 1999 ez loader, galvanized and just what I wanted to replace the old calkins under my 16ft. Starcraft. when I got it home it was just too big for the 16. The boat had been gutted and they had lost many of the parts and had completely lost all interest in the boat. So they through it in too. I will post some pics of where I am at on it. I believe I will just put it together and dump it. I really hate too. I would like to have it here where I live and my Sylvan at me beach place. Then I would have a boat at both places all the time.. Its 116 miles from my home here in Vancouver Wa. to my place at Ocean Park Washington. It would be nice not to have to tow. Well here are a couple more shots of the arch and I will eventually post up the 1968 Chieften.

Nice job wz!! the boat looks great! I'm going to do something similar for my tracker. A friend of mine has a muffler shop so that should make it a fairly simple procedure. I thought I saw another project hiding in the back, can't wait for it too!
Great work, now get out and enjoy it.
Happy boating, Bill

You know all the projects on this boat are so close to being finished that I am anticipating spring like never before....
Yet as I look out my kitchen window today I see my boat under a tarp with snow gently falling on it.
The Portland Boat show is running I should go to it. Sometimes I go to boat shows and take pictures which later I turn into projects on my own boats. I just do them my way as opposed to store bought.

Great job on the motor bracket WeldZilla! Glad all things turned out good. I was going to do this to my boat but was gunna cost to much $ and was afraid I might screw up..

Re: I/O to Outboard: 22ft. Sylvan offshore from 3.0liter OMC to Suzuki DF140

I like the concept, but I understand the cost issue. In my case I was able to buy the aluminum at my company's cost and build it at my shop so I have less than $500 into the bracket including all hardware. As far as the new Suzuki 140 goes well I am retiring in 6 years and I wanted it now. It should take me well into retirement. Right now I will be lucky to put 30 hours per year on it. I don't really pleasure boat. I fish and crab and go home. I dont run for the sake of running. I really just don't have the time.

Re: I/O to Outboard: 22ft. Sylvan offshore from 3.0liter OMC to Suzuki DF140

Well it has taken some time but the radar, GPS and new radio with DSC are all installed and working. there were so many holes left from all the guages that were removed with the old OMC set up that I have begun covering the holes with 1/8 inch aluminum that I hit with the scotch-brite pads The old switch panel for accesories was badly cracked so I used it as a template form making a new one from aluminum. I re-wired anchor light, bow lights, wiper, horn all my arch work lights are wired in I am still have holes left to fill with bilge pumps night driving lights. a couple more stern led lights so I can see back there in the dark if something gets fouled. The GPS I settled on is the Garmin 42o8. It is incredible!! I am not going to use its depth finder capabilities. I have the Humminbird and I have a wide beam Lorance going in still. When I get all done here I am sure there will be more to do!! I bought a foot switch for running my crab davit to keep my hands free.
I will post up videos to show all functions when I am near the end. I am telling you this conversion is an A++. This boat is better than ever and I am still not finished!!

See all that lovely aluminum in the dash..... Love it.....

It all works!!

You know I have been accused by some friends of enjoying the working on more than the boating...
I really enjoy both parts....

Soory people I have been gone forever but things went a little sideways in my life. Luckily I have my career to help keep me on an even keel. And Hey I got the place at the beach, my truck, my welders and all and all my tools. And yes I still have my boat!! Some use the internet to further knowledge and understanding and others to have affairs.... Whatever... Well took her to Willipa Bay for the week of the 4th. We had great success crabbing and we just hammered the steamer clams. With 10 people in the boat she would pull 34.6 mph but still I prefer to run between 24.6 and 26.2 mph. The boat has turned out to be a real pleasure on the water.

Whether its in the bay, a nice peaceful lake or out in the columbia river gorge in the wind and waves it just goes about it's business and doesn't get bothered by any of it. Onone of our excursions across Willipa bay with nine of us in the boat when we headed in the waves had grown to 3 to 4 feet, she just motored right through and got us home just fine.
Here are a couple shots out kokanee fishing earlier this spring on Lake Merwin here in Southwest Washington.

Now this is what its all about for me!!

Re: I/O to Outboard: 22ft. Sylvan offshore from 3.0liter OMC to Suzuki DF140

Weldzilla, Awesome job!!!

I started tearing down my 72 Starcraft Chieftain 25 a couple of months ago and am at the point I need to make decision on the power train. Boat came with tired 165hp merc which I found out has a cracked block. Much like you this is my retirement boat so I'm willing to spend some extra money to get reliability and useable space.

What I didn't see in your post is if/how you tied the new transom into the stringer and sides of the boat.
