Here is an ATTABOY to ya Papa!!!:D I would be willing to bet that even though you are relieved and happy the motor runs you probably didn't get much sleep last night. The Christmas Eve effect! As an option you could always leave work early today, personal reasons. Congrats Bro!!!

Pappa your video is music to my ears. Great job. Thanks for posting it and taking the time to create it. Hope the weather holds off and you get a chance to more than just splash it. I know from first hand experience that installing a new motor and running it is a rewarding accomplishment. Hope you get a successful maiden voyage.:D

Not sure what else I can say except to repeat myself..."Well done sir":D:D

Everything looks great, the only potential problem I see is you having so much fun with the rig that you run out of gas with that little tank:p

Good news is you have plenty of room for above-deck fuel tank options there.

Good luck with the splash, I hope you get some warm weather so you can enjoy her this fall a bit:)

Thanks y'all! I'm pretty pleased.

Turns out it's a damn good thing I didn't take the boat out last night. I never refilled the lower unit with gear oil! Yikes!

Yeah, as I was standing at the ramp last night looking into the water, I felt strangely comfortable with not launching it. Maybe it was the boat talking to me and it just didn't know how to say "put oil in the outdrive you dork!"

so who's got the islander launch checklist for me?

LOL!

Patience is key.

Found a much better launch on a small lake just a couple miles away from where I'm storing the boat. nice pavement, steep incline, dock to tie up.

Maybe tomorrow after work.

Gear oil, camera...

Well Papa?
I know 'maybe' is not a promise but some of us (me) don't have much of a life.
Any news? Any Videos?

I know, the other quote " Patience is key" :(

Fsh was being nice.

I have been getting PM's from the rest of the Angry Mob and we want video of you in the boat on the water. Those are the demands.

Re: I'm an owner! 1975 Islander 22

I was standing in the boat, on the trailer. SWMBO was in the drivers seat of the car. She backed the boat into the water to the point where you would stop, start the motor, undo the winch. I heard water trickling. Found a pretty heavy stream coming into the boat from the middle of the keyhole in the transom. Quite a lot of water.

I told her to pull the boat back out. I drove it home.

Re: I'm an owner! 1975 Islander 22

Yeah I'm still sulking.

Part of me said "wire up the bilge pump and let's go!" but my fear of drowning won the day. It was probably two gallons in about a minute that the back end was underwater. So it almost seems like there's a disconnected hose or something. The shift cable in the gimbal housing is torn, but not bad enough to explain all the water that came in. Unless of course that's only one of a thousand mistakes I made putting the back end back together.

As much as I hate to say this, it's gonna have to all come apart again so I can even investigate. So it's very possible I'll just winterize it this weekend and get to my house-winterizing chores and make this leak the first item on the agenda come spring. Damn.

The boat DID get wet though....
