ok i tried hitting it with a rubber mallet many times its a little better but not 2 finger in and out .. also seems like it doesnt seat in all the way only goes into the coupler about an inch , it can go in another inch or 2 if i tap it in with the mwllet but it will be hard to pull out
now you adjust your mounts

exactly thats what i figured to adjust the mounts but many people were saying hit the tool with a hammer till its good i didnt feel that was the correct way

You use the tool and a dead blow hammer to center the bearing , nit drive the tool in . Once bearing is centered you adjust the mounts using the grease markings on the tool to guide wher to move the front of the engine
Centering the gimbal

on alignment

Centre the bearing in the carrier (With the tool in the coupler as much as it will go without hitting it in, smack left right up down, but not with a 10kg lump hammer! Your hand is enough).

Then you get to adjusting the engine mounts (adjust both mounts, left and right, evenly) raising or lowering the front of the engine until the tool slides in and out easily and the grease marks are even all way around the end of the tool.

If the grease marks are heaviest on the bottom, the coupler is too high, and the front of the engine needs to go up. Remember, the engine 'pivot point' is the rear mounts, and they are (just) FORWARD of the coupler, so the coupler goes opposite to the front of the engine. Front (of engine) up, coupler goes down. Front down, coupler goes up.

when people say adjust they are talking 1 turn or 1/2 turn at a time. Really helps to have two people one outside and one adjusting. It took me 3 hours and magically it just slid in perfectly. 3 year later it still just slides in and out with no effort so once you get it, its got....

take rubber hammer and pound transom inside and listen. I hope no rot. do same for stringers.

I worked on mine for hours and mine isn't "2 fingers" easy, but gripping the alignment tool firmly and appying pressure makes it slide all the way in. Gripping it firmly and giving a good yank to get it moving and it comes out smoothly. But I don't have a ton of run time on mine yet to verify I'm not going to blow something up.

sometimes excess grease causes a suction upon tool removal.

ok i hit it as much as i can its goes in ok not 2 finger but better then before.. i see greese marks all around about 300 degrees except for a little portion on the bottom where it looks like it didnt even touch the grease. so im assuming i have to lower the front engine mount? i only have 1 mount in the front ?

If you have done as others have suggested and your front mount is solid....

You have larger mounts in the rear, considering the complete transom assembly. I fear that you have a sagging assembly. A simple test is to hit inside transom with large rubber hammer or drill 1/4" holes all around it and test for rot. This sucks, I know!

In case there is no more down adjustment take the front mount to a welding shop and have 1” cut out.

Ok i adjusted the mount and now it slides in like butter and bottoms out now 😁..BUT i dont see good marks on bottom of tool? I tried turning the nut maybe around 2-3 full turns CCW (lowering ) and still same thing? barley any marks on bottom but still slides in very smooth.. So i just gave up and installed the drive which went in like butter.. 😂😁
