Re: Is there an easy way...

So you know an easy way to restore it a boat besides hiring someone else to do it for you???

... if you do I'm really interested in hearing how.

Never said there was an easy way complete an entire restoration. If you go back and read your post that I originally quoted you will see that is not the only thing you complained about. Sometimes there is an easy/easier way to complete a single task. Maybe one day you will help someone out when they ask is there an easy way instead of letting it "kill you". Here are a couple of examples of "Is there an easy way" question that have an answer of yes.

Question: Is there an easy way to intall a captured nut other than welding. Answer: Maybe, Take a look at rivnuts.

Question: is there an easy way to fix a crack in a water jacket? Answer: Maybe, Take a look at Lock & Stitch.

Who cares if newbies ask the same question over and over. Just keep answering, encouraging them to do it right and to continue with their project. For most here this is a hobby not a job.

So... is there an easy way to grind the inside of a fiberglass hull?

... besides hiring someone to do it for you.

I was afraid of that.:blue:

... I was hoping there was a way I could do it without getting tired, dirty, or itchy... without having to hire someone to do it for me.

You won't have to worry about it if you buy that overpriced aluminum thingmagiggy you posted.

Re: Is there an easy way...

It's pretty cool and rare, and would almost be worth the 600 mi. one way trip to get it.

I may contact them just to see how much they want for it.

Correction: 715 mi. one way.

1K$ and no motor is pretty steep for that boat, it'll probably be up for sale for a while.

Re: Is there an easy way...

There is just a vast absence of knowledge about boats in the general public. Too many people thinking its about like buying a car. Sorta lime picking up a 500$ 4x4 to beat around in. You expect to have a few problems. Only that we didn't know how big a difference those problems are in a boat versus a vehicle. I think we may ask to make sure we are not doing more work than we have to, or that we are doing things the easiest way it can be done. I don't think everyone is necessarily thinking they can get away without any hard work or sweat. Just wanna be sure the work is at least adequate but the easiest way it can properly be done.

"The trihull is filled with flotation foam to add security. I intentionally removed the plug and put it in the water. Water was half way through the boat and it still floated perfectly."

Gotta love it. Gonna be some saturated foam in that thing.

Yeah , that expanding urethane foam is just like a sponge eh?!

Too bad the folks at USComposites don't realize that... they think it's water resistant!

14. Is this foam water resistant?

Yes, but with the following caveat. The foams that we sell are considered closed-cell, which means that each cell that makes up the foam structure is completely closed off from surrounding cells which prevents it from acting like a sponge. It is completely safe for this foam to be in contact with water for hours/days/weeks and even months with no adverse effects. However, it should never be submerged in contact with water permanently. Over a period of years the water contact can begin to soften the foam and cause it to lose its closed-cell status. This foam is designed primarily to be used as an insurance policy in case of damage/holes that could cause a vessel to lose buoyancy. Pinhole sized openings would essentially have no effect on the foam since the amount of exposure is so minimal but you should always make repairs as soon as possible to keep the foam effectiveness as good as possible. This will be the case with all after market closed-cell polyurethane foams and even manufacturer installed foams.

At least it's not as bad as this boat. Some nice automotive parts on that marine engine, I know the cost in investment is there, but I don't see a $4,500 boat there 86 Four Winns 210 Santara, Nice boat, Fast!

Is it bad, I have 2 boats in dry dock, but searching for a third that can be put on the lake in the spring?

Jig, I'm sensing that you're loosing some of your resolve that you NEED this rig:
It's pretty cool and rare, and would most definitely be worth the 750 mi. one way trip to get it.

I may have 'slightly' adjusted your quoted text
