Re: The official "I HATE WINTER" thread

Snow is pretty rare in my neck of the woods but the temps dropped below freezing and the sap stopped flowing in the sycamore's. Leaves are dropping faster than I can get them picked up and the yard waste barrels are full. That was yesterday... This morning, you can't even tell I spent 5 hours on yard work yesterday. While normally I'm out chasing fish this time of year, this weekend I'm fishing leaves out of the pool and not because I want to go swimming in that cold sob either.

I just backed mine into its 60 degree winter home yesterday... I was lucky enough to put over 130 hours on it this year, but winter still sucks. :(

Winter isn't so bad.

The grass doesn't grow so there's no mowing.

You can work outside without having to drink gallons of Gatorade and sweating your nads off.

The Crappie will be biting for a few more weeks, then when they shut down it's time for some big blue Cats.

Then Spring will be just around the corner and it'll be time for the Crappie spawn.

Winter doesn't do much for my tan... but it isn't so bad.;)

All the bad stuff about Winter I blame on the Canadians, every time we get a cold snap the weatherman says " Another batch of Cold Canadian Air will be moving down from the north...".:p

+1--Crappie biting great the last couple of weeks (and those pesky white bass) The only reason I'll be putting my boat down for the winter is to do some work to it (carpet, seats, permanently mount charger, and fix a livewell) Love not having to mow and sweat my butt off.

That's why I live in California. Hopefully I'll have my motor back on Tuesday and be out fishing by 10am the same day. Either that or crabbing in Bodega Bay. My son is coming in February, so I'll be trying to get out as much as possible all winter long. I heard the striper are biting out in Napa :D

I actually enjoy going up to Canada for a couple of weeks in the winter. My wife is Canadian and her brother lives in Cold Lake Alberta, and her mom and sis live in Lindsay Ontario. I go up there and trudge through the tundra going ice fishin' and stuff... then come back home and scoff at our winter.

I also find it amusing to see Canadians out in the snow wearing shorts and a parka!:D

Next weekend I'll be up a Lake Sonoma seeing how the land locked Steelies are doing. They should be gathering around the dam and spreading over to the marina pretty soon. This is the best time of year to go to that lake. It's definitely not crowded at 5:30am or even at 2:00pm when it's time to head home. It will be interesting to see how the steelies did on two years of a full lake and renewed habitat. This should be the year for the turn around. The bass season was excellent although drifting a flasher with a real worm was a suprising new technique for me I was nailing them every trip out. So on that note, Yeah, winter is finally here!. FYI, I still sweated my butt off diging 10 post holes this afternoon.

Spent time in cold lake when I was in the military, BRRRRRR!

Yup familiar with the whole shorts and parka thing, throw on the flip flops to run to the shop to stoke the fire if there's no fresh snow on the ground, man those things slide like skates, gotta be carefull. :D

that's a great idea! I haven't taken my boat out in that lake because it's a 12ft aluminum with a 9.8hp motor and I'm too lazy for the the 30-40 minute ride to the back of the lake. But the dam and marina are right there by the launch. Good call! I have no idea on how to catch steal heads. any tips?
