Lake Sonoma has land locked Steelhead. Dry creek is a hatchery. Kokanee Salmon are planted fish raised in hatcheries specifically for sport fishing. You'll need to head over to Berryessa if you want those. I've never heard of them planting them a Sonoma. Sonoma also has Rainbows in it, most people don't know the difference between a rainbow and a land locked steelhead but if you catch one and it's over 5 lbs it's most likely a steelhead.

Amen brother. Hot is just a little uncomfortable but cold is pain. I would much rather be pulling off clothes than putting them on.....besides that, the gals are much prettier to look at in bikinis than snow suits!

But just remember, you can always put on another layer ... there is only so much you can take off! Once it gets to 32*F it is time to think about a light jacket or maybe just long sleeve t shirts ...

I think you two southern guys should spend a couple of weeks up here in -40 degree weather (heck -5), you know, just so you can really appriceate were you live :p

My brother lives in AK--my mom lives in MA--no thanks--nice to visit--but no need to live there:)

When I get to the last layer I hit the water.....or just suck it up and sweat and let mother nature cool by evaporation. Some people can't stand to sweat but to me it feels good...unless I'm dressed up for some occasion.

Winter isn't so bad.

The grass doesn't grow so there's no mowing.

I have that mindset until January when instead of mowing once a week I'm snow blowing twice a week.

Only iboats can make me feel better and worse at the same time. Get jealous of the clear blue water pics that those Fl people post to tease, then have to find a Canadian thread with some temps to count my blessings.

Only 6 months til spring and here's to hoping for a gentle winter.

Was in the 70's yesterday and going to the 80's today. We can boat all winter long. I have no desire to feel that Canada winter, I have been in some -23 weather a couple times. Used to do some snow skiing. I like it warm.

You and Island Mike stay out of this! Winterization=sneekers, jeans and a sweater my ***.:D

No insult intended, just a little fun lol. One of these days I'll move south but for now I'll love the cold white sand we get a few times a year here!

Re: The official "I HATE WINTER" thread

First snowfall in the Twin Cities this past weekend. We only landed 3" and that will all melt away by Turkey Day when we MIGHT see 50degrees. My boating season ended 2months ago, so the withdrawal feeling is gone. It's Winter Project mode right now for me.

Re: The official "I HATE WINTER" thread

Yep, it's all their fault. :D

I sincerely hope you guys are enjoying your tropical weather.

Today I'm hobbling around with a sore back from crawling around under a porch to run a gas line to keep the dogs warm. :(

Deck Swabber, the last time I went rock climbing in Carbondale I threw my forearm up to the top of the chimney and got stabbed with 100s of CACTUS spines.

Native cactus = no hard winter.

Kanucks got me beat though. I shouldn't complain too much here in Central Illinois.:p

Re: The official "I HATE WINTER" thread

Well, first of all, there is nothing "official" about this thread. It is a member's thread, not sanctioned by iboats.

I settled in Texas at least partly because Minnesota winters start too early and end too late; the fishing in summers, while great, isn't good enough to keep me there. I also prefer potentially deadly weather that is too hot to that that is too cold.

This past summer, with 107 consecutive days over 100*f, hundreds of my neighbors burned out by wildfires and not enough rain to drown a bug made me question that decision.

Today is cold (40s), gray and rainy. I welcome the rain and am glad I live in Texas.

I don't like these threads that focus on negatives. . .hate this, hate that, make ludicrous macho threats and bashes against those accused in media enhanced scandals, etc.

Let's make some threads about what we feel good about.

I feel good about surviving last summer and I feel good that it is cold and raining.

I'm bidding my time waiting for the snow to come. Lets just get it over with and get back to spring so we can start boating again!!!
