Re: Kinda a feel good topic - what folks in what state the nicest you've experienced?
I had similar experience when we visited Idaho in the early 90s. My brother, Dad and I spent 6 days and travelled from Idaho Falls to Boise and spent 3 days in Riggins inculding 2 guided fishing trips on the Salmon River. The folks were very friendly to us and loved our southern accents. Everyone would ask "where are you guys from?" when we spoke to them! Twice we had a stranger buy our breakfast or dinner, who would not accept a no thankyou! We enjoyed meeting and dining w our new friends and talking about our different areas. My brother and I went to a bar in Riggins, Population 500?+/- 2 nights , and could not buy a beer once we introduced ourselves to the locals and got our first one! We had a ball shooting pool, dancing, and drinking and getting to know the locals till the bar closed each night. I honestly thought of just staying and never going home. I joked to my brother to go home, tell my livein girlfriend, and sell all my stuff and mail me a check!!! the people and the scenic country, wildlife were very beautifull. I'm sure it's still a great State to visit or live in.
