If you don't understand please re-read the above post. I guess you can't see the new recruiting materials with Rumsfeld on the cover of Time with a mustache. Or Al Jezzera using this to show our lack of will or support, or to call out to idiots to join up to fight our troops as they don't even have the support at home. Or as justification for shooting at our troops as they are nothing more than a wing of a Hitler run murderous regime. How many get to die before you acknoledge this is an irresponsible and potentially dangerous statement for the troops she says she SUPPORTS. BTW freedom of speech is a protection of political speech. How exactly is this political speech. Help me with the connection between Hitler and Rummy. This was hate speech.

I think a better analogy would be calling a Democrat Secretary of Defense, Josef Stalin. The fact is though that invoking Hitler stirs up stronger emotions although it probably shouldn't. So I kinda agree, but I have made a pledge to our brethren here on the left that I would be fair when I notice an iboater equating Dems to Communists . . .

How is it that most children in America don't even know who Stalin is? How many people he killed, murdered, or disposed of. The cruelty of his regime will be lost as there are some who think that he was on the right path.

Hitler however will never be forgotten. Although they will continue to rewrite history to the point where his reality will probably be lost on future generations.

QC I have heard Rush parody AlGore with Karl Marx, but never Joe Stalin. I have never heard Rush even use Stalin in any of his shows. But some just don't understand the difference between a political theorist and a Mass Murderer.

It is based on my experience with my wife as a teacher. The experience that has her explaining with Hanacha is and Quanza but not even allowed to use the word Christmas.

It is based on my experience with teachers who are required to teach this material. They can't possibly share information in which they know nothing of. I have heard history mis taught and flat out lied about, such as the US wasn't responsible for the victory in WWII, Russia was. Why, based on the body count. Stupid. I would put the number of teachers who have a reasonable grip on history at about 30%.

Or Rush told me. Duh. What exactly does he know about Stalin Pony? Other than his name. Does he know the body count? Does he know how the Russian Navy played a vital role in this accent and then their subsequent loss of power within the structure. Does he know about the prisons, experimental hospitals, mass starvations (genocide), how he was able to aquire additional lands to the "soviet union" after WWII and who was nice enough to give it to him, does he even know he wasn't really a very nice man? Ask him if he killed 3 or 5 or 7 or 9 million people.

Pony, it is a trick question the answer is around 20 million give or take a million. He deported another 8-25 million depending on your sources. I would be inclined to go with around 10. Toss in the 26 million who died in WWII by his theats of death to anyone who didn't fight. Never mind they didn't have any bulletts. I would probably look at those a coerced suicides, but some teachers would call that the reason for victory.

Based on your expirience I would agree with what you stated. The Rush comment wasnt meant to be a shot at you, just a lot of the extreme rightists seem to use him as a crutch. I'm not a liberal so try not to read to much into my words when I say stuff like that.8)

OK, here is my extremely unscientific study on the topic of Stalin vs. Hitler and education. My 18YO College Freshman is here (just woke up :} ). He currently has a History class and graduated with generally very good grades in High School, he hates English so slid off the honor roll. Did well on his SAT's. I can't recall the score . . .

where in the east are you located, man? If you say it's so I'll believe you but it's pretty darned unbelieveable. We have Christmas imagery all over our public schools. High school choir concert was all about Christmas, and 70% or 80% of it was sacred music. public school.

But back to history, why can't we say Christmas? Is it not historically relevant? Why are teachers REQUIRED to discuss Jewish and Ethnic holidays but specifically forbidden to even mention christmas? My wife had to stop a first grader from singing away in the manger for fear it might OFFEND someone. PUKE>>> No lets not even start with that. How is it a teacher can get in front of a classroom and say that it was only because the Russians entered the war that the Germans were defeated. It is foolish to believe that the impact of Russia entering the war did not have a huge bearing on the outcome.....
I, for one am not so sure that the European Theatre of the war would have been won by the allies if Hitler had not attacked Russia.....
If fact if you look at from the perspective of total land gained, the Soviet Union won WWII.......JK
