You are right. I had forgotten the Message Rush preaches is that of unity and togetherness. How silly of me. (sarastic rolleyes emoticon here)

Excellent question although you don't need to worry about my kid, as he does understand the difference. I will say when I got out of school I wasn't clear on the difference, and I believe this blurring of the lines started in the 60's.

No small thanks to Jimmy Carter and his mindless ramblings. And, yes, History will repeat itself if we don't stand in the way.

"It is foolish to believe that the impact of Russia entering the war did not have a huge bearing on the outcome.....
I, for one am not so sure that the European Theatre of the war would have been won by the allies if Hitler had not attacked Russia.....
If fact if you look at from the perspective of total land gained, the Soviet Union won WWII.......JK"

Hitler got greedy, and thought he could fight multiple fronts at the same time. His troops were spread too thin, and as a result, he failed. He is not the only leader who has made poor decisions in this regard. Rumsfeld was part of the decision to invade Iraq, causing our military force to be spread too thin. We would not be able to support a major campaign right now without completely pulling out of Iraq. It is remotely possible that dumb arse on The View was illuding to this little fact that Hitler and the Rummy has in common, but I suspect she isn't smart enough to come to her conclusion by this route.

There is no other aspect that they can be compared on. Hitler was a monster to be sure, but he was competent at being a monster. Rumsfeld is incompetent and should never have held the position he did. This has nothing to do with lefty vs righty. If the Rummy would have been a lefty, I would feel the same way. Incompetent is incompetent, regardless of party.

BTW, Coulter is the absolutely worst representative of the conservative party.

Re: Leftest

In the interest of fairness to our Public Education system and my son, I promised him that I would update this with a couple of important changes. They are noted in bold, the first one is an addition and the second one is replacing killing with slaughtering:

QC, "hey Jeff, I need 30 seconds for two simple questions".
Jeff, "OK" delivered with a look that could kill :|
QC, "Who was Adolph Hitler?"
Jeff, "Dad, I am in a hurry" with basically the old  staring back at me
QC, "It's OK, Jeff, seriously 30 seconds. Who was Adolph Hitler?"
Jeff, "The Leader of Nazi Germany."
QC, "OK, Who was Josef Stalin?"
Jeff, with a scrunched up face "The leader of Fascist Italy? No, wait, the Communist Leader of Russia?"
QC, "Very good. What was he known for?"
Jeff, "Slaughtering a bunch of Russians?"
QC, "Yes, awesome, thank you."

The original post is definitely different with those changes. Sorry Jeff and Pointer. And Jeff apologizes to both Stalin and Mussolini :=

Pointer asked,
" Please point to the TV network newscast/talkshow/entertainment vehicle of a conservative network (If you can even find one) that has called Hillary - Stalin. Or any liberal for that matter and then laughs about it."

Well Pointer, since you asked here it is. Took me just a matter of seconds. Just google "rush limbaugh stalinist", and I didn't even bother using hannity, o'rielly or engram or any other of right wing blow hards.

Limbaugh on Dems' oil merger comments: "This is Stalinist and Marxist ... You can rape us"

After playing an audio clip of Democratic senators arguing that oil company mergers have led to price hikes, nationally syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh said, on his March 15 show: "This is Stalinist. This is Stalinist and Marxist."

Limbaugh played comments made by Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-NY), Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-IL), and Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. (D-DE) during a March 14 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing that included testimony by oil company executives.

Singling out a complaint by Durbin -- whom Limbaugh referred to as "**** Turban" -- that "[w]e have no voice in saying to these giants, 'You shouldn't have done that,' " Limbaugh responded: "You know where we have no voice is with you. The American people have no voice with their government. You can rape us." Limbaugh added: "You can take houses away from us under eminent domain. You can come in and raise prices, taxes all you want. We can't do anything but go to jail if we refuse to pay it."

From the March 15 broadcast of The Rush Limbaugh Show:

LIMBAUGH: We have an audio sound bite here of the Senate Judiciary Committee meeting with oil company tycoons. This is Schumer, Sen. Patrick Leakry -- Leaky -- Leahy and -- oh, **** Turban's in here along with Joe Biden.

[begin audio clip]

SCHUMER: There are fewer, more massive players in the markets, prices have spiked, and what has gone up has not come down. Coincidence? I don't think so.

[...]

LEAHY: Every time there's been a merger, prices have gone up. Anybody want to respond to that? Is that just coincidence?

DURBIN: We have no voice in saying to these giants, "You shouldn't have done that. Your money ought to be coming back for the good of society that has paid the price for the gouging that's taking place at the gasoline pumps."

BIDEN: One big bathtub of oil, and we're very small players in it.

[end audio clip]

LIMBAUGH: This is Stalinist. This is Stalinist and Marxist. "We have no voice." This is **** Durbin: "We have no voice in saying to these giants, 'You shouldn't have done that. Your --' " We don't? You know where we have no voice is with you. The American people have no voice with their government. You can rape us. You can take houses away from us under eminent domain. I don't see anything about Rush comparing any of those senators to Stalin. Maybe thier actions? But not them. And that is way different than comparing Rumsfled to Hitler. Nice try.

QC, if you can show me where said the above I will figuratively kiss your arse right here on iboats.
What I did say is that this administration was about as far right wing as this country has known in modern history. Then I went a step further and said this regime is as far right as the world has known is recent history. In fact, I said this administration was just a few steps shy of being a right wing fascist regime. I then went on to give a couple of examples of right wing fascist regimes, using Hitler's Germany and Mussolini's Italy.

I've repeated myself over and over on this subject QC but you are desperately hanging on to this idea that I compared Bush to Hitler, I guess that's the best you can do. Attempting to show where leaders lie on the political spectrum and compare various leaders political leanings does not mean you are comparing the atrocities that these people have committed. That would be like someone comparing me and you, we are both mid forties, white males, but that doesn't mean I'm a right wing, chicken-hawk hypocrite.d:) Does it?o:)

Re: Leftest

Is it hair splitting? I think not. When one person is compared to another, it is different than saying something about a group. One singles out an individual, while the other does not. Seems very simple for me to understand.

Oh really Plainsman, so when Limbaugh singles out Biden, Leahy, Durbin and Shumer he wasn't quoting individuals, but actually a group? Did he name the group? I didn't catch the name of the group Plainsman, I only read names of individuals:)

So your saying, in what you quoted, that Rush called those senators stalin? Why, you must have magic mirrors or something cool like that to see him comparing the senators to stalin.d:)

Re: Leftest

jimonica,

If you reread, I was not attacking you in anyway. If I misquoted you, then I am sorry, and based on your notes, I believe that I did. I would submit though that I was only off by naming the Third Reich. Anyway, what I was trying to explain was why I was clarifying the use of Dem/Communist analogies. I promised you (I think) that I would be consistent with regard to Rep/Fascist reactions and Dem/Communist reactions. I have here, and I have at least 3 times in other threads since I made that promise. You called me on it, I agreed, and I kept to it.

BTW, at the time I gave you multiple examples of further "right" Governments, which you ignored. I just thought of South Africa, which I didn't use then although I did note Iran and Iraq. There are definitely others, like Franco's Spain. Nice of you to chime in

lol..."magic mirrors"...... thats so funny Plainsman.d:) You can continue to split hairs on this subject or just be a stand up guy and admit the right invokes Stalin's name just as much as the left invokes Hitler's.

What I don't get is why the right gets so freaked out lately whenever someone attaches Hitler's name to describe a conservative. For years those on the left have been described in addition to Stalinist, as Marxist, Leninist and even some trying to attach Pol Pot to today's Democratic party. We just laugh and go on our business, not a big deal. Even here on iboats its become taboo to use a little play on words when describing the "right wing" as the "reich wing".
Listening to conservative whine about the use of Hitler's name reminds of a line from a Shakespeare play, "me thinks thout protest much too loudly".8)

that made me laugh out loud, literally. "...their actions. But not them." As if she'd been comparing Rumsfeld's appearance to Hitler's, instead of his behaviors. Rumsfeld doesn't even have a mustache!

"...their actions. But not them." that's good for a deep belly laugh!

And at the time you mentioned those other governments I said you were being duplicitous, your just naming other fascist governments. The larger point I was attempting to make, and maybe I didn't do a very good job of it, was in response to a continued theme on iboats that the Democratic party has shifted far to the left. I believe nothing further can be from the truth. In fact just the opposite, the Democratic party has shifted to the right as the Republican party has shifted even further right. It was my point that our whole Country has shifted so far right that the Dems now occupy the middle that was once occupied by the Republicans, and the Republicans have shifted so far to the right that they are just a step or two to the left of a right wing fascist government.
This is getting a bit long winded but if you'd like me to list some of our Constitutional Rights and Geneva Convention agreements that this administration has trampled on to prove my point I would be happy to. But I gotta go, later.
