No one is being tagged. Looks like 24 hour cycle, and we're asking about the security question note now. Us Mods are having to do the same gymnastics to get on.

I repeat, this is designed to slow down some bad apples, spammers, hackers etc. Should not cause any issues for our members whatsoever, other than the hassle of logging in.

RM, you aren't being singled out, and there is no real data capture or sharing....the "data" is actually originating from iBoats and they are asking you to retype (exactly) what they have sent to you.
Think of it more like a secret code that will open the door....the spambots can't interpret it.

If you didn't already hate spammers, it's never too late to start. :)

No new activity for me. I'd look into that independently of this issue. I guess it could be related, but unless others are seeing it I would suggest it is something else. Good luck!!

If you order any kind of tickets online this is standard procedure, no big deal.

Since I have to put in a security code 2 or 3 times tell's me iboats really got slammed.
Too bad for us but more so for the admin's and mods who have to deal with it.

Why can't I log in from my PC then ? It asks me to enter the code 5 or 6 different times, then says "page not found. " I'm only able to log in from my phone.

Hard to say, could be your ISP, if AOL, you would be lucky to get anything to work. But there sure is a lot of people posting that DO NOT have to try 5 or 6 times to get past the verification. Could be you are just reading it wrong.

Re: Looks like the hiccup has been fixed

If you don't have a static IP address, the new (Temporary) system will ask you to log in each time. Sorry, but that's just the way it's going to be for a few days (Ok, until after the holidays at least).

So like it or not, this is what you get for the next week, so please be patient as we all work through this.

Re: Looks like the hiccup has been fixed

Just a heads up with the captcha (security thing) ... this is a different one and I know the numbers and letters are sometimes hard to decipher. I move around alot so I am using multiple IP's and therefore have to log in through the security system with every move. There are times I go through the 3 tries and then get a new set of alpha-numerics and have to start over, there are other times it is first try and in. The q, g, and 9 can sometimes be very confusing. Also the b and the 6 can be confusing. If it doesn't work with one combination, just start switching the letters/numbers around. You will get in sooner or later!

In all, please be patient with iboats, they really are working on it.

The vast majority may not understand. I and a few other posters are very much aware of the IT guys in the backroom and what they are going through.

A tip of the hat to the boys and girls in the back of the house.

The rest of us just need to be mad at the cause of the problem and not those trying to cure it.
