Re: Looks like the hiccup has been fixed

Meeeeee too.
I am not having any spam problems, so the spam is probably from some other source
I am sure it will pass but I am still getting the security code thing before I can log in.
I have a static IP at work and did not have to type the code this morning
If you don't have a static IP address, the new (Temporary) system will ask you to log in each time. Sorry, but that's just the way it's going to be for a few days (Ok, until after the holidays at least).
So like it or not, this is what you get for the next week, so please be patient as we all work through this.
The static IP works fine after the first time, I logged in at work this morning and did not have to enter the code. There is a reason for the codes and that is to make sure that a human is trying to get in and not a hacking machine. The codes will help ensure that iboats will not go down again while the IT folks are trying to clean the system.

Just a heads up with the captcha (security thing) ... this is a different one and I know the numbers and letters are sometimes hard to decipher. I move around alot so I am using multiple IP's and therefore have to log in through the security system with every move. There are times I go through the 3 tries and then get a new set of alpha-numerics and have to start over, there are other times it is first try and in. The q, g, and 9 can sometimes be very confusing. Also the b and the 6 can be confusing. If it doesn't work with one combination, just start switching the letters/numbers around. You will get in sooner or later!

In all, please be patient with iboats, they really are working on it.
The codes are a little difficult sometimes, took 4 tries last night at home, finally figured out what that squiggly letter stood for.
The vast majority may not understand. I and a few other posters are very much aware of the IT guys in the backroom and what they are going through.

A tip of the hat to the boys and girls in the back of the house.

The rest of us just need to be mad at the cause of the problem and not those trying to cure it.
This is a very true statement. We need to applaud the IT department, they have worked hard to get iboats back up and running. As I understand it the first night this happened they worked until 3 AM and then were back the next morning to meet and get another plan of attack and back at it again. Nobody understands until you have been there. IT folks, keep up the good work.

Usually, I'm not 100% sure with the one iBoats is using, there is a button that lets you bring up a new security code if you happened to "roll snake-eyes" and get a really squirrely combo. One look usually lets you know if you have a nasty one.
I've swapped out two or three in a row before i got an easy one. :)

What he said, I did it 6 or 7 times closed browser, re-opened it and missed it 6 or 7 more times, before I got it. Never could figure out where I missed it. That being said I very much appreciate all the time and effort put forth to fix the site. I am a "new kid on the block" but I was getting the "shakes". My most humble "THANKS" "Love Ya, Long Time"

Re: Looks like the hiccup has been fixed

I do not use my personal Email addy for iboats except with Admins and other mods.

So far today I have been notified by 15 different people that they have $46.7 million bux to give me if I will just reply with my life history, etc.

It has been that way for at least a week. Somebody, somehow, got my Email addy and sold it to a huge horde of scammers.

I have gotten no scams at my iboats Email address.

You need to set you SPAM Assassin values to a more stringent level and white list the ones you care about. Just blackhole the others. Let them waste their computer time on stuff you never even have to delete.
