Thanks to all it is heartfelt!!! been rough for the admiral for sure, Diane was an amazing woman who loved kids, she fostered 52 babies over the years plus raising her 4 children and 8 grand children. She will truly be missed!
Thanks again to my Iboats brothers.

My condolence on your great loss. You've inspired me for my next project. I admire your skills and vision. Love the back seat plans. In regard to your tank, it'll probably be cheaper to have one custom made exactly for where you want it beneath the floor, toward the front for re-balancing boat with new the bracket + engine. Keep up the good work. Happy Holidays.

All right, ahh shaking the dust off this thread and will be on the job shortly!!! HI guys I am back. Been a busy couple a months, kinda lost some funding for a bit and let it get me in a funk. Got tons to do without spending big cash, time to start plucking away!!!!!!!!!! Now I see how the gold standard Jas islander has taken some time! Still bound and determined to splash this year, will see how it goes.

Re: Magnumdekes 1976 22' Starcraft Islander

because I have the same idea floating around in my head about how to power my islander...i have thought about a motor bracket for my transom for the main power outboard.

what i am wondering is why the raised lip and supports at the top of your outboard bracket??

i am guessing you will drill the motor mount holes once you are ready to mount the motor.

but big motors dont hang on a transom...they bolt to it....no need for a lip to keep the thing from falling off until you clamp it, like you do smaller motors...

that very slight over hang that the bigger motors have on the stern bracket doesnt come close to the top of a transom if the holes to mount the motor are anywhere close to lining up with the ones in the transom....

i know my motor had at least 3 sets of holes to allow different mount hieghts on the transom..

did you make your bracket airtight to add flotation???

is that realistic with all the holes you have drilled in it so far??

or is that box for displacement lift?

cant wait to see how you continue

Glad you're back, MD. Is she still playing turtle waiting for paint?
AHH YA turtled on saw horses so I can spray interior white, that will be soon!

Got some catching up to do!!! You have been coming along nicely, still wanna race em together on the bay this summer!!!:facepalm::)
Gonna get the interior painted up white and flip her over the next week, have a ton of wood waiting to go in and some foam also. Time to burn that stuff up!

This will keep my swim platform at water level and provide the clearance necessary for tilt travel and steering cylinder.

i am guessing you will drill the motor mount holes once you are ready to mount the motor.
Yes sir!

True, see above, gotta have clearance room, I may actually be too tight!

that very slight over hang that the bigger motors have on the stern bracket doesnt come close to the top of a transom if the holes to mount the motor are anywhere close to lining up with the ones in the transom....

i know my motor had at least 3 sets of holes to allow different mount hieghts on the transom..

did you make your bracket airtight to add flotation???
YES! (I hope) I did pressure test it.

is that realistic with all the holes you have drilled in it so far??
Lotta 3M 5200 behind there. also will gluvit the interior soon! Also am thinking about foaming the inside right full, undecided on that yet!

or is that box for displacement lift?
Sealed it should hold roughly 500lb of bouancy, almost even with the weight of motor and bracket.

cant wait to see how you continue
Thanks, hopefully it is not a flop!!!! If you look back in the thread you will find the whole thought process on the bracket.

Re: Magnumdekes 1976 22' Starcraft Islander

I am watching with great interest. I have also read Weldzilla thread on his Islander conversion. I have a Holiday V5 that I would like to convert, although I would have to buy a bracket as I don't have the metal fab skills that you guys have.

Keep up the good work!
