Very impressive OB bracket, I guess I missed that part on my first trip through this thread. Cheers on the etch and prime, can't wait to see the topcoat...

So I did get another coat of primer on and hopefully will get it wet sanded and a coat of white on tonight. On another note I promised pics of the welder trailer I was painting 2 weeks ago, so here they are. All crappy cell phone pics of course!

All in all a handy set up for our field foreman to transport the daily tools needed!

Majic implement paint. This is the mix ratio I used= 32 oz paint, 6 oz majic reducer, 6 oz acetone, 2 oz synthetic enamel hardener. Sprayed nicely, I found that I was better off mixing it and letting it sit for 45 minutes and then spraying. First batch I mixed up 64 oz of paint + additives and then prepped, (45min. wait) sprayed the hull, ran short one high side of the hull and quick mixed another 32 oz and sprayed it with no wait time, in ran horribly, no runs other than the one side from where I started that batch.

Moral of the story is for me it takes 96 oz of paint (before adding mix) to paint an Islander hull. Worked perfect on second coat, had enough left to do another coat on the bottom of hull. Had to do some wet sanding this morning to remove the runs, used 320 grit wet dry paper. Rubbed the rest down with a grey scotch brite and water, dried it and wiped down with 50/50 mineral spirits/acetone, and then used a tack cloth after it dried. Sprayed it ant it turned out pretty good I think. It is a 30 foot paint job for sure due to lack of prep, but I will be happy with it on a working fishing boat!

MD - I'd be happy with that so-called 30 foot paint job on my tinny. Looks great from here!

Just an FYI for future reference. When using Majic Paint with hardener, you MUST let it "Cook" for 30 mins after adding the hardener. Stirring occassionaly. This ensures proper catalyzation will occur

Paint looks great from here MD.

Gotta be getting close to time for the anit-turtle, a quick battery discussion, and the real cool work to begin. :D

THANKS GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AHH, cant wait to put her back on the trailer, I'll give it a couple of days to get a lil bit harder first! Definitely going to avoid the obvious play on words!
Battery's wil not occupy too much discussion here, I have the plan!

Very important as I found out!!! Been a while since I shot single stage with hardener! should have waited on that 1 qt batch and let it cook off. Now i know. Did not remember seeing that tidbit of info in the WOG paint reference.

Paint going on, cool!:D

Hey, are we running some color on this boat too, did I miss that part? Or, are we going all white?

Once the boat is seaworthy, notice I did not say done, are they ever done? I will shoot a couple coats of a dark grey from the strake up to the gunwale, so white bottom, grey sides and a white top. That is the plan for now, should look good with some white mc #'s and a starcraft decal or two in white. I think the motors are going to be white also with American flag evinrude stickers, not quite sure on that yet.

Well my iboats brothers sad news, my mother in law
lost her five year long battle with cancer.
She was surrounded by family and friends. Her faith was strong and she was confident in seeing her lord. Her suffering is over
