Make some great progress Mag, I like the structure built for under the bow, you could have a barn dance up there.

that structure looks factory to me... I was looking at mine and it looks similar, only the large cross bow is rotted on mine...and they use little pieces of angle aluminum to attach it all...bob

I went back and saw that.....that means you dropped where everything mounts to the sides.... right? I might buy a welder tonight... those used brackets are hard to find and they go fast. thinking about framing it with thick walled square tubing and sheathing it in 1/8th " thick material.... and making the "box" wider to add more buoyancy....it looks like weldzillas kicker was dragging heavily in one of his pictures while getting out of the hole..... I am thinking more "box" under water will prevent...or help prevent that..... I can TIG the frame at work, and then tack the sheathing on, then go home and mig it all closed....bob

Yep Dropped the top 1/2", dry fit went well and basically did nothing, going to shape it on the belt sander to fine tune it.

And I would be thinking mig it together and tig it closed (more control on the weld) LOL

More box = flotatin for sure, not necessarily going to change how the hull takes off as far as bow rise. other than you will be riding on a flat pad unless you plan on V' ing the box. and I think you want to go thicker than 1/8th on the mounting surface for the motor, I would not want to bolt through tube that can crush over time.

the low floatation "pod " of the bracket actually acts like a trim tab getting you on plane way faster....

yeah i should have said that the back plate and the opposite surface that mates with the transom would be thicker...probably 1/4" on the transom side and .5" thick on the outside.... the "skin" would be welded all around on the other surfaces.... I dont think Id use anything less than 1/2 on that portion that sticks up above the swim platform....... I extended the hydraulic jack plate on my hunting boat about 3" upwards using 1/2" x 4" wide stock......because my mount was too low...even after using all the heighest hole settings i could( one set of holes in the transom, 2 sets on both sides of the jack plate and 4 sets of holes on the motor itself.... and i still needed to go higher!! it would take HOURS to tig all that edgeing!!!

Boring stuff today, good news is almost ready for floor install, hoping to use this weeks better temps to heat paint bay up to 80 with a lil propane help. FOAM would be nice.
So here we go, basic epoxy work, two coats today, all floor related pieces sealed up

Straightened out my curved cuts with the belt sander, should fit better. Had some gaps to fill.

Another post coming

To fill my gap I made some tinny crunchy penutbutter LOL
Been collecting saw dust

Mix up some epoxy and add saw dust

Stir till gross

And apply

Then epoxied the whole structure

Crude but effective, will sand and repeat as needed, nice and waterproof. Should take paint nice when I am done.

Nice job Mag, used to do the same thing to make PB when building RC airplanes, only it was balsa dust.

I want my bilge to drain front to back, leaving the limber hole area open between stringers, gotta make it so poured foam does not get in it.
Cut some foam blocks, applied PL premium

Filling this gap nicely

I you noticed in the first pic there was a can of great stuff, ya I know it is less than optimal, but worked great for sealing the rest of this up

This little bit of blow by woulda been way worse with pourable, should be mint!

Any thoughts, I am hoping to avoid the pourable mess in the bilge, I know DJ tried damming it and struggled a little. hoping this works good, i see no reason for it not to.

Take your time and mix small batches so it doesn't get out of hand,............

Great stuff is fine for dams until the pour-in cures. Good for a dam, not so good for flotation foam.

What are you talking about? Nothing crude about that underdeck. Too bad you have to turn it upside down when it goes back on the bow.

GA's got it, ain't nothing crude about that bow structure. SC should add that to their 'How we shoulda done it' iboats suggestion files ;)

You can try tipping the hull fore to aft ~ port to starboard to help fully fill each area similar to helping keep gluvit where you put it, instead of running all over. I'd give credit to he who suggested it, but the thread escapes me........

My plan is to use the ever popular Red/blue Solo cup as my batch cups and take my time! (prolly find another use for one of em)

Seemed to work well for what I did with is, should not see to much water where it is.

Crude was more meant towards my PB patch, should all be bomb proof when done, now I gotta start thinking on how to stiffen up the upper cap for the bow window, both of the ones I have are cracked, I assume from people walking on the top. Going to replace my window with lexan and maybe some ply backer, effectively making a small window even smaller. I thought of ditching that window but swmbo gave me the H!!! no:lol:so?????? I launch at a lot of spots with no dock so I gotta be able to ladder myself up on the bow and walk around.
I will use a hilo to ahh pick the trailer up to my advantage for pouring foam!
