Auto Tech for 20 years now professionally. Volvo Expert (one level above Master)certified, Dodge Elite Master certified, now thanks to the economy, I'm working on my KIA certs. I can't help myself though, I just LOVE problem solving and working with mechanical devices and fixing stuff. My wife says there isn't anything I can't fix, including stuff that isn't meant to be taken apart and repaired.

Like "TashasDaddy" I also dabbled into the real estate market as a broker and dealt with the various bank investors who, circa 2003, developed all kinds of mortgage products that allowed individuals to buy custom spec homes with very little or no income verification.

Home building as a general contractor was a very, and I mean very prosperous business at the time.

TashasDaddy, keep you eye out for "super cheap" land deals. Cheap labor now allows you to build homes at about $65 sq.ft.

Re: Main Occupation?

Hiya, My first post on the forum..:)

Up till last June, I owned and drove a Concrete Mixer, but due to the collapse of the construction business over here in Scotland, had to give it up and go to work for a guy, driving one of his trucks....."Books in" we call it..:(...then he went out of business...so...three weeks ago, I landed a superb job as a "Waterways Operative" working on the Forth and Clyde canal, assisting narrow boat, yachts etc etc, transit from Grangemouth on the east coast, to Bowling, near Glasgow on the west coast, and I absolutely love it, its like getting paid to do my hobby.... 4 days on, 4 days off....no more sitting in 5 lanes of traffic at a standstill...money is rubbish tho', but you cant have everything...:):)

I'm looking forward to LOTS more time spent on here ...

I am a retired Senior Chief (EMCS). I retired from the Navy in 1991. I now moved back to Nebraska and work as maintenance man in a 61 bed Nursing Home. Live for the week-ends in the summer so I can take the boat and family to the lake for the weekend.

Cool man. Love that!!!! I've spent a lot of time in the Midlands, and some in Scotland. Was in the UK two weeks on and three weeks off for about 2 1/2 years. We have a small factory in Leyland. Love the narrow boats; I swear I'm going to rent one someday for a family vacation.

We used to have a regular poster from the Glasgow area and two from near Birmingham, but they have been real quiet for a while. Stick around, lot's of very good info here and some good blokes too. We are dang short on chicks (lass, lassie, bird), so if you could scare one or two up that'd be alright . . . (Sorry mom, I know you taught me not to be a pig, but hey)

Oh, btw, there is one very nice woman that cruises through once and a while, if you want to get on her good side she loves blonde jokes ;)

If that very nice woman is who I think she is (abbrev "LF"), word has it that her birthday is tomorrow (3/28). Must be a blonde birthday joke out there somewhere, eh?

Re: Main Occupation?

First and always licensed Auto Mechanic Class A with Interprovincial seal specializing in electrical and tune up, licensed provincial Emissions test and repair certificates.

Ran a large GCR store for many years. Retired twice.

Mechanic at heart but selling cars these days. It's a lot more fun selling than repairing.
