I hate to disappoint, but I have completely brain-washed him... He has no recollection of his prior misguided statements and viewpoints.... See vid below... starting at about 1:01.... It's like it never happened..... :p

Re: Man vs. Boat (season 1).

Here is the installment #19 of the video series - Wow, I can't believe I have compiled that much footage of so little getting accomplished... Don't even have stringers in the boat yet....

Hard to believe I started this process back in September. This video really just shows me complaining about the weather and rambling about some of my plans for the boat. I am, however, concerned about the transom cut-out location.... If you can stomach the random chatter, it's about mid-way through... Take a look and let me know your thoughts.

Also, a little shout out to the "Rodeo Naked" guy (you will understand that only if watch the video)...It's family appropriate, no worries... (although Robert did think it was hilarious).

Have a good one fellas.

I gotta admit, I am looking forward to Robert's Huge Smile when you finally get this go-kart goin more than your Splash...well sort of...Just kidding, but it will be awesome to see him joyriding that thing...

BTW- I know you are going to want to ride this thing as much as him, so maybe go to the trouble of installing a slider on the seat, that way all sorts of legs can reach the pedals...

Brutha,

I would think you could fill the drain cutout with PB, tab in some 1708 layers bilge side, drill new drain hole a tad lower.... and bada bing!

I can't wait to see the Starcraft destruct video! :D

I do believe that's the hull side transom skin used in a recent video about keyhole placement for through clamping the ply transom. That formerly noble SC GLASSERhas joined it's fallen brothers in the great beyond... Of course not until after giving up it's heart, the Mercruiser driveline that will live on in a newly rebuilt, but better built, home!

Re: Man vs. Boat (season 1).

first off......air bubbles in the transom lay up first 30 seconds.......no worries...great job...

second off......the key hole is quite far from the drain.....still lots of stregnth.

instead of total pb.....i would use some wood there...pb and then the 1708..

but no worries.....the job looks great.

i would actually agree with the plexi on the go kart....keep the mud out of your eyes....

Hmmm, I saw it as an exact reverse of that: White edge, black background & raised white letters, no colors on the flags, or just the whole thing done w/ jet black powder coating!

Either way, cool addition to the PMC motor box! If the motor cover doesn't come all the way up to the top of the splash well, recessed into the glass just above the top of the box would be nice looking location too!

Yeah, it should be fun... I hope I don't let him down... I ripped the entire thing apart last weekend....(I hope I can get it back together). I think everything is working okay but the brakes are shot (completely rusted). Also, the engine is not frozen, but you have to get it to catch just right on the pulley for it to turn over... Something needs to be adjusted in there...

Yeah, I tried to cut some small boards today, and it was very tedious... Its an awkard little fit in there (and a small piece). Although Oops is my hombre and unofficial mentor, I am having a hard time seeing the structural value of all that work.... (I have to cut three .5 inch ply pieces, PB them together, resin them, glass them, etc...). Blah, I think I'm just gonna PB it and roll with it... Star craft is slated for destruction in T minus 2 weeks (just need to get the gauges out first)...

After seeing this I couldn't help myself and took a little creative license, please don't sue me...

GT... That looks really cool... You sort of caught my by surprise there, because I was not thinking color at all... But, I like it - alot!!!
Thanks for doing that.

That is exactly where I was thinking about placing it.. Great minds think alike.

Re: Man vs. Boat (season 1).

Thanks Oops... As I said in the beginning, you guys teach me how to build a boat and I will do my best to keep you entertained... I'm glad this thread is a comfortable place for you and others to hang out and blow off some steam... I like hanging out with yall as much as my non-virtual friends...in fact, probably moreso, because of our shared interests (or should I say craziness). I've got a little "animation" planned for you guys... (not Tinny and Glasser)... Still thinking through it... stay tuned.

I got a layer of 1708 down yesterday on the inside of the transom... Wow, that stuff lays up nicely, but DRINKS resin. I had my first "hot batch" that cooked on me before I was done with it.... I'm still trying to figure out the right mixes, given temps, working times, lay-up size, etc... It's definitely an acquired skill.

Hey, I know this is a boat restoration forum, but if you need any help with that kart, just holler, I'll be more than happy to impart whatever limited knowledge I have...can't be more complicated than a Mercedes 600 SEL AMG...

Re: Man vs. Boat (season 1).

I have always enjoyed hanging out here on i-boats fourms.
I have met alot of really good people and learned more than I thought I ever could. (and need to learn lots more)
I think the humor is great also.

PM
Its a bumber to see the resin go bad in the pail. Hate that! Just remember if you mix a large volume of resin at one time it will get hotter in the pail and kick faster than a smaller amount. If you do use a large amount you have to spread it out alot faster.
OOPs can explain it better than me.
Hope you get some things done this weekend.
