Re: Man vs. Boat (season 1).

You guys will do anything (sweep the leg) when it comes to taking out a glasser....

StarmadaDojo.jpg

Strange, close likeness if you check my high school senior pix....... BTW: My most recent efforts were on the glass..............:D

And my Thurs sick day was cancelled officially at lunch today:( I've never 'owned' anything I didn't have possession of... Not a great feeling...

Congrats on the work, oops comments & having ez swing by & only mildly threaten a leg sweep.....Big day...:)

Just catching up with the thread. You are looking great with that nice new hole in the hull.
Congrats on a job well done.
Watch out for those Kool-aide drinkers, You don't need a leg sweep at this point in the game.

Wow, you are brave, cutting a hole into a perfectly good transom...hope you fill it in with something good...:p

BTW, 5 thousandths of an inch,... you'd better get some disclaimer papers written up and file them with the Attorney General of International Boating Rules and Regulations Commitee...just to be on the safe side...

Re: Man vs. Boat (season 1).

hi patrick....

looks great...JUST MARVELLOUS

one thing...

the bottom tabbing of what looks like 1708 (from the bottom of the key hole to the hull)

im just a little worried about flatness and parelellism here.

you may have to knock some of that down a tad....

the housing gasket on the out side will take that up.....but it might cause the inner plate to be at an angle.
it looks like you will still be with in tolerances....but you just might want to check it with a gauge.

x2 that is how I busted my inner transom plate. tabbed up too far :(

Just catching up on your thread. That new transom looks great! You know if you get bored working on the Chris Craft, I'll be more than happy to pull the Silverline down for you to put the transom in for me ;)

Thanks Drew... Let's see, I appreciate the offer, but I think I've met my lifetime quota on OMC to Merc conversions (transom rebuilds)... Good experience, so I would hate to take that away from you... :)

Thanks for checking in on me - Unfortunately, I regret to inform my friends that I was a complete and total slacker this weekend.... It was actually the Admiral's birthday weekend - so we ate a bunch of crawfish, went to the St. Patrick's day parade (sort of a high holiday at our house and Jackson has a GREAT one), then did some honey-dos around the house, and then went to the lake yesterday afternoon.... My birthday gift was not disappearing for 8 hours or so to go work on a boat... I'll sneak out there at some point this week and start on the stringers... In the meantime, I'll try to post a video of the key-hole cut if I can get my computer to act right....

rheagler - glad to have you on board.... All are welcome...

Okay guys, progress has been slow.... with the weather being so nice, been sidetracked with a little bit of this:

robertdriving.jpg

And.... had to spend a little time yesterday getting ready for the cub-scout pinewood derby.... Hopefully, this is not foreshadowing, but our little car (while long on style) was very short on performance/function/speed...... We came in 15th out of 18, but the little man handled it well....

checkingin.jpg

I did make it out to the shop today... I repaired the "hole in the hull" (from the grinding stage mishap) and glassed the key-hole cut-out. I put some resin on my stringer boards just to get them ready for some glass.... I scratched my head for about 2 hours on the best approach to start measuring and cutting these things.... I"m think I am going to use the scroll tool that Oops and Frisco did... Just need to figure out how to steady/suspend my boards in the right position.... Mind is spinning right now...

This is one of those moments where you look at your son and just say "yeah, um, sorry about that, little buddy... this one's on the old man.":confused:
