yeah, I don't think i'm gonna go the rattle can route. I may just do a two tone boat, White on top and black on bottom. Im not real artistic so it will probably be pretty plain.

Re: "Master Bait'R" Restore Thread

Ok, I got some new supplies (cabosil and Glass Bubbles) and then ran out of MEKP. Its been interesting. But I do have some more resin and MEKP on the way. Also All of my thru hull fittings and Garboard Drain came in, But my wife won't let me have them until Sunday. So no pictures. I was able to get everything PD'd in. So now all of the stingers and bulkheads are permanently in. Only thing left to PB in, is the BRace thing that goes along the back of the transom.

Then its time to glass. Well actually I guess im gonna have to do some sanding, then glass the stringers. Going camping this weekend so wont have any updates until next week.

You can sometimes find MEKP @ Walmart or auto parts stores, just to tide you over or a quick additional layup or fillet. Check the shelf carefully, it may have been there awhile.....

Re: "Master Bait'R" Restore Thread

To bad that you gave it away could have used some of that BILL!

So for fathers day I got boat stuff, I got 5 plastic straight thru hull fittings, 1 90 degree plastic thru hull fitting, 1 straight stainless steel, and a stainless garboard drain. I'm waiting on a 90 degree stainless thru hull for the bottom of the boat. I'm putting all stainless on the bottom so that the trailer does not break any plastic ones. THis just happened to the in-laws their boat almost did not make it back.

Here are all the stringers PB'd in finally, some of them need a couple of fillets, and all of them need a rough and scuff to get all the burrs off, then I think she is ready for Glass. Then I'm gonna flip her put some paint on her. after a good fairing of course...

Have a good week!

Actually, really didn't give it away; it will be to reduce my bill. Hopefully I won't owe him anything. Your boat looking pretty good.

I think the wife has demanded that it gets wet this season. But now I am trying to decide if I want to redo the inside. Get rid of the second console and make more storage space. Not sure if its worth it or should I just leave her as is.

Also where do I post to find out if the motor is the right size for my boat? Im not talking about the horsepower but more like the shaft lengths and please forgive me I do not know much about them so not even really sure how to phrase the question.

Re: "Master Bait'R" Restore Thread

Nevermind, just found some info on motors and what size is needed shows horsepower and shaft size.

Can anyone explain what limits the horsepower rating? Can I over build anything to put a 200hp motor on the boat? Is it just because of the weight of the bigger motor based on the size of the boat. Its 18.5' long and says max 150HP, just curious what is the limiting factor to 150HP?

Here is the Info that I found.

Outboard Motor Shaft Length

Re: "Master Bait'R" Restore Thread

Very nice, great info and thanks very much, According to my math the Biggest I could go is a 170hp. So I will just go my the Max HP plate on the boat. At least I now understand how they come up with those calculations.

It feels good knowing that very shortly things will start going back together. That will be exciting.

Re: "Master Bait'R" Restore Thread

I haven't posted in here in a couple days, still waiting on my supplies.

Last night all I did was rebuild a new motor stand, to put my motor on, and check the lower unit oil. It is brand new and never been used. I'm wondering if this motor truely was rebuilt and never used. Compression is 100% and now the lower unit oil is brand new. I wish I knew more about the motor, when I try to turn the prop there is a clicking sound, but when I try to turn it the other way it will not spin at all. And I have not Idea where to check to see what gear its in. ITs an electric shift model.

anyone know anything about 70's model johnson's. I posted in the johnson/evinrude section with no response.
this is a 1970 115hp johnson. 115esl70d

I hope this weekend to at least try and start it and see if it will run.
