The pump action seems normal. I'm thinking your water pump is a pressure pump, as are many in boat domestic water systems. With the breaker on, the pump will go on to achieve a certain amount of pressure in the plumbing lines (usually 45 psi) and then stop.

If there is no water in the tank or if one of the fixtures is turned on, the pump will continue to run.

This kind of stuff keeps happening. I like the guy doing the scheduling but keep running into issues with work they do.

Prior times
Installed washers on prop in the incorrect order
Tightened prop nut way more than spec
Over spray on cowling and boat

Now this, it seams like every time I have work done I find issues. I'm paying $149 an hour and expect to have quality work.

The last bill showed 9 quarts to change the oil. I made a comment that I'm finding 7 quarts for the 8.2, and was told he made a mistake and it's 8 quarts. Looked at my operators manual put out by Merc and it clearly shows 7 quarts

Seriously, one of the main reasons I DIY nearly everything is because I can't stand paying a lot of money and having to deal with idiots. It causes me more stress than just doing it. Then I also know exactly how well the job was done. I'm not above cutting corners if I know the risk/benefit of doing so, and how much work it will take to fix something if my hack is unsuccessful (also, how much is ammunition for the parts cannon, and is my time worth more or less than that).

Wonder if they're billing you for two 4 quart containers and just keeping the extra quart.

I'd assume a dealer would have drums of oil... but my Chevy dealer uses 1 quart bottles for their oil changes instead of bulk. I can only assume someone either double or forgot to fill an engine one too many times and they use the empties to check their techs. Who knows.

Don't know but I would bet the folks doing the work Don't add more thsn needed. The issue is the dealer makes extra money for charging for more than needed because most Don't know that it doesn't take 12 gallons of oil to change it

My buddy's boat was changed and only charged 5 quarts.

Are you having the dealer do the work because the boat is under warranty? Maybe time to take matters into your own hands

This first time yes, if the impeller or pump has an issue in next 2 years there should be no comment about maintenance not being done

Yes, and IIRC, the new style sea water pumps are good for 300 hours between impeller changes.

Not sure I would be willing to go 300 hours unless I step up the amount of hours I accumulate each year. I'm still seeing 3 yr or 300 hours, are you seeing something else?

Found more issues
Went to install bolt and figure to get more access I would remove the engine room step, well they did the same but also almost rounded out a couple of the screws.

Installed the bolt than felt around and the other one is also missing. Seems it never ends, I need to find another dealer.

Is it the same place you took the chap?
Finding a new place sounds like a good choice before they screw up your new boat.

Yes same place, they have always made it right after I tell them, the not bolting the fuel module down could cause a dangerous failure later

Would be nice if there was a way to find out how many certified Tech's each dealer had. I'm guessing they might have one but wonder if there is a OB and I/O certs? The place I'm going to sells mainly OB boats, that said they even messed up installing OB props
