Re: Merc 2bbl & Manifold

"There was a change to the Service manual John, all engines from 93 to 97 including the Gen + engines are now 8? BTDC. The change was done mail outs to dealers and the specs were just pasted into the manuals."

Any other specs change with this? and was this rather recent? I haven't seen it listed as a service bulletin. Odd to make a change like that and not do a bulletin. Is it something you can scan and post?

Idle mixture screw actually did something and seems to run best at a little more than four turns off seat.

That still seems a little too much to me... And with the lean-out on acceleration (stumble), I'd keep looking for a vacuum leak. From memory those Mercarbs should be running at about 1 1/2-2 turns off seat.

Don, when I get back on a wideband connection (next week), will download #17 again. The one at that site, a few months ago was back-level to my printed one, which is about 2 years old.

I agree, that's why I mentioned the number of turns out. I didn't get to float the boat today, (see stupid petricks forum.) I'll deal with it this week and in the mean time be looking for the thread with how well the AFB runs. Unfortunately, that'll take a month and a half by the time I get all the parts, etc.

The AFBs run really nicely.... You may have to modify the throttle cable mount (or order it with everything else).

I pity you for your location for getting parts, but would love to visit for some diving!!! (Maybe I could bring the parts with me :D:D:D:D:D)

Cheers,

Diving here is pretty nice. We have a decent number of wrecks in 25' - 90' of water and a few nice shore dives. The wrecks and most of the reefs have to be accessed by boat since just about everything is outside of a barrier island / sandbar. Never made it down to the Great Barrier down your way yet, but it's on my list of places to go.

95jy,

Just been reading a service bulletin and have a question... Are you sure the engine is leaning on acceleration and not flooding?

Check this service bulletin, in particular page 5....

Just a thought,

Chris..........
