Re: Motor overheats

Check thermostats and also check the head temp with a heat gun to see if it really is overheating.

Re: Motor overheats

you may have sucked some sand up into your water lines and clogged your water ports in your heads. I have heard of some people having to remove their heads and flush....you can drop your foot and connect a water line to the water tube..I cut the end off of an old hose..fit right on there.
Good Luck

Time for an immediate investigation and change out. The amount of use does not necessarily matter over much but the rubber deteriorates with age and 7 years is a long time. You may have an impeller fin or 2 that has broken away blocking your water passages causing the overheat.
This is a "Must Do" before you consider starting the motor again.

Don't know for sure but that is where I would begin given what you have said about it.
Keep us all posted how you make out or if you need any further help.

Re: Motor overheats

If you do a tear down for your water pump service. Please post some photos of your findings. You should also flush out your cooling system to get any possible obstructions out of there.

Re: Motor overheats

yes the impeller should be replaced every few years regardless of hours of use.
They are about 20 bucks and takes about 1-2 hours including changing the oil in the foot. I use the synthetic blend. and have never had foot trouble.

Re: Motor overheats

the fuel pump is in the motor, so your fuel bulb will not stay hard because fuel is being sucked through the line not pushed.
