Two questions for those willing to answer. The first one is for you folks willing to join me in beating this dead horse for the last time... I promise. I sold some stuff took off the boat so I have some cash! I did sacrifice the bottom of the hull of the boat but I got a great price (kidding). I sold my hand winches/pulleys for the anchors that I did not care for and got $80.00 for the bow and stern set ups.

1. Are these pedestals junk? Got a line on them from a guy on c-list.
2. I realize there is a special tool to put in the transom drainage tubes but is it possible to do with an appropriate sized flat wood drill bit?

On 1, No comment, never have had them. On 2, I would say you at least need a hole saw of the appropriate size

Doesn't djpeters with the 22' SS in Allendale have the tool your looking for. Pics in post 394 http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=427003&page=16

they would go to dust fast in salt water but if you paint em first, should work OK in fresh

I think DJ does have that tool BUT well know fact in Western Michigan the people in Allendale are scary. The eat their young when the pizza shops close.

Oh boy that was a relapse. I thought my "vacation" last summer and the pills would help a bit more than that.

important part of it, especially from safety

Those you posted belong on a small boat with no HP

Keep searching, or take the plunge. Springfield or Swiveleze are good products

I've heard if you go when the sun is out you can still get away. Just don't look 'em in the third eye, they will eat you for sure.

What a great day in Michigan to do some work on the boat. The floor is not just cut but actually fits. Transom is cut and will fit but while dry fitting I think it got hung up on the knee brace. Did any of you have the same issue? Is it okay to pull that knee brace back to keep any future epoxy from getting scratched?

I went to a saw mill today and had a great time watching and learning about a cool job. I got some cedar pieces for the side bunks and consoles along with a 2.5 inch slab of cedar for a casting bench and bench seat. My plan is to cut that slab down on the ends to fit within the bunks and have it 10-12 inches above the deck on free standing legs. I will need to play with the stability to see if more will need to be done. Here are some pics of the fun I had today.

Hi Otte. I missed the hull flip. The red/white looks really good. in the pic ^^^. And the cedar slab for the casting bench is a HUNKAWOOD . I don't think you're gonna have stability probs once you nail it down. Lots of good work on a nice day in MI!!!!!

Thanks. That piece cost me $27 so I was out the door with two 90+ x 15" x 3/4 planks for the side bunks, one cedar piece for the two 3/4 consoles for about $70. Not bad for custom order stuff. The bunks are second generation cedar with a previous life as Consumer's power poles. Something right about that too. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Not sure about the bubba hunk of cedar but I think that was a power pole too.

Still alive boys but not getting much done on the boat since last week. Just pulling vinyl off of the bow pieces and transom backers so I can get some good templates.

I coach college track and field and the indoor season is in full swing. Put on a home multi-event meet on Friday and followed that up with an away meet all day on Saturday. It was fun and I love my job but don't think for a minute that the boat project is in the back of my mind pretty much all day.

Running thoughts right now. I picked a Tempress 1115 Tackle Hatch Storage Sys White one for $40 on ebay.



My idea is to put it under the passenger console in an upright position with the hatch opening and closing like it shows in the picture. I thought about putting in a glove box in the console dash board piece but that did not seem right for me as I need space. Then I thought about putting in a shelf under the dash, perhaps in conjunction with the shelves and scrapped that for various reasons. A big reason was the reality of any flat space in my office, house or garage is a clutter magnet so I did not like that possibility if I could come up with a different solution. Now I simply build a plywood box to fit around the tackle storage, under the console and I can use it for tackle, tools and registration stuff. I like it and maybe I can avoid a mess by legislating my behavior through engineering.

Two more things purchased on ebay through last week. I done found two Springfield pedestals. One is a 10" locking pedestal for $25, complete with shipping, without a swivel yet and the other is a pedestal with locking swivel for $27 complete with shipping. The pedestal with swivel is set at 12" so I will need to cut that down to size and re-drill holes for the lock mechanism on the swivel. Both pedestals, with a proper swivel on the one, are rated AD so either one could be used on the driver side. A little extra work on the 12" but I am a carp/drum/flathead cat/sturgeon bottom feeder. Carumflaturgeon would be the latin name for my species for those of you in to taxonomy. My 10 year old just reminded me what the study of genus and species was - taxonomy. My kids are smart... get it from their mother.
