Re: My Boat Was Recovered Last Night.....Thieves Busted

That's AWESOME!!!! I really felt for ya! I only wish there was a way for ya to get back a monetary compensation for all the heartache, pain, & sufferin! Great Video of em! I really hope that's the clincher, in court. That'll make ya feel better, huh? Wether you want the boat or the money, I hope ya come out well! Can't trust many folks these days. I use cameras too, along with motion sensors, just to protect what little I've still got.

I kind of did get compensated, the Agreed Value that my insurance company paid was at the absolute top of the blue book value for the boat, with the current economy, not to mention gas prices on the rise, I would have probably never been able to sell it for the AV payout.

Plus now with it gone I've decided I will get a much smaller, lighter, flats boat that is not such a pain to launch, tow, and recover. Needless to say, my next boat will put Fort Knox to shame. My only problem will probably be to remember to disarm all of the alarms and bring along all of the keys to the locks.

Payout or not, the fact they were caught is priceless, and I hope my experience has caused at least a few boat owners to invest in their boats security.

Well this is great news for a change. I'm going back up to my boat next weekend to finish winterizing. I'm thinking I may remove a few trailer tires and add an extra chain and lock to discourage the dishonest ones among us.
I'm amazed how much info is made available in your area about these guys before they see a day in court. That wouldn't happen here with all the "right to privacy" crap that exist today. After all, just because he was convicted of similiar offences before, was caught red handed prepping a stolen boat for shipping, and had other stolen boats in his compound, one of which was video taped being stolen, does not mean he is guilty.:D:D:rolleyes:

What amazes me is both of their rap sheets are a mile long yet they are were still free to continue perpetrating these types of crimes. I mean really, what do you have to do to get locked up for good?

The marina owner had a rap sheet like that yet managed to not only get out of jail, but to own a marina in less than 2yrs and go right back to his prior activities. Sign me up for the job that pays enough to own my own marina in less than 2yrs, the only problem is, its probably illegal.

Each county down here also has they're own version o gotcha. I little newspaper they sell at convinence stores that comes out every week and has everyone who got arrestees picture and charge in it.

Florida has a law I believe it's called the sunshine something law that let's any and all criminal info be completely public.

What really sucks Is if your ever charged with a crime then proven not guilty the crime is still on our record if anyone looks your name up.

There is a habitual law down here but it's hardly ever used. If you commit three of the dame felonies in your like you get the max no matter what. They barely ever do it though.

These guys have low bonds. One I believe is 50K the other 10K that means for 5K and 1K respectively they can bond out. Same thing with child molesters/predators. They'll have a 50K bond. The. You'll see someone who got caught with some pot or a little bit of pills and they'll have a 2-300000K bond.

Congrats on getting your boat found. Amazing that a business owner was the main culprit, though. Just have difficulty imagining someone putting their own business in jeopardy by stealing anything, much less grand theft and fraud.

How's St. Pete these days? I lived in Largo and then Tampa for a few years during the late 1980's. We did avoid St. Pete at all costs, though.

Re: My Boat Was Recovered Last Night.....Thieves Busted

Drove by their location this morning on the way into the shop (like I do every morning), and it looks like half the boats have been pulled from the lot. Their sales lot always had boats crammed in there, and now there's maybe 20 boats on the lot. No police activity (and didn't see any yesterday morning), but it looks like the boats are been seized.

I stopped in there in June to check out a 25' Wellcraft they had. It, and about all of the boats were pretty dumpy and somewhat trashed. There was nothing about that place then that made me want to give them my money.

I think it would be easy to say that with this economy I can see a business owner do some pretty stupid things to stay afloat however searching the internet these guys have issues going way back so clearly these are just lifetime criminals. I sure hope someone goes back(once these guys are convicted) and informs the many people these idiots have defrauded of their disposition.

Diesel I'm sorry you had to go through this but I am sure that knowing these guys are behind bars is some relief for you, I would also encourage everyone thats close to Pinellas county to stop buy and visit these guys in jail and tell them exactly what you think about them!!

They actually sold my last boat in about 3 weeks last year, but it was real clean and needed nothing. Some of those boats have been there for over a year I think.
Beefer, what did the wife do?

What's crazy is I actually stopped in there to look at their boats when I was looking for a boat. They are all over Craigslist, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to see what they had. I ended up buying from a private owner though.

Beefer, what did the wife do?

From what I understand, she was a very active part of the whole thing. I think she was 'handling the paperwork' on the stolen boats, and I read in a consumer complaint that she said 'you can trust us, my dad is ex-FBI', and other stuff. I'll try and find the links for the consumer stuff.
