What did they use to patch you up?

Gluvit?

JB Weld?

Marine Tex?

Epoxy?

Did they sand it down and feather it in a little?

(Sorry man, just being a punk here, glad all is well:))

Funny story, the Doc said they usually have lots of layers of fat to work with but I'm so skinny that they had to use nylon thread to do the stitching. Not your average open heart surgery patient. :) I was ok with anything but 'glass. This itches enough already!
They were able to repair the valve instead of replace it, which is great since the artificial ones are only good for 20 years and I was not looking forward to doing this again two more times in my life.
Not to mention that I would be on blood thinners for the rest of my life... and I just bought my second aluminum boat! :D
Also, I just ordered my Starmada hat!
Things are sure looking up here!

HIGH FIVE!
I had a 12 hour round trip drive to pick mine up in New Mexico. Fortunately the trailer was in pretty good shape so it wasn't too hairy of a ride. The closest other one I've seen in the year that I've been looking has been one more state further away.

I had about the same round trip as well maybe a bit longer as this trailer is a real POS. Up to Wisconsin...

Glad to hear you're on the mend. Yup, I agree with Jas, a little Gluvit on your ribs should fix you right up. Looking forward to seeing your refit. - Grandad

Good news, ER. Glad you're on the mend and doing OK. Touching the Chieftain will make you feel better. When you do this :D, be gentle the first few times, you're still in recovery. I understand why the hearse wasn't a good idea for you. Take care buddy.

Happy to hear your doing better. If you don't feel up to working on the Chief, you can always stare at it. It has been established that staring is progress :)
Glad to have ya back!

ER - I'm glad to here your progress and that you are moving in the right direction with your recovery! Good time to plan and "stare"... at the boat. That way when you are ready to go, you can go at it!

Take care.

Yep, gotta have your own thread with pics of your Jupiter to join the Starmada!
I've wanted to join since I first found iBoats and finally got to when I found my Chieftain. (thanks again barato for the link to the ad!)
Then exactly 1 week later I have my stroke and now my boat has been sitting with no work going on at all! So frustrating!
If it weren't for the stroke and surgery I'd have the Merc off and the transom replaced by now!
PM MichaelP for the neat-o Starmada hat. $22 shipped. Mine's on the way!

But ... you haven't even had enough time for the staring and the planning. That part alone took me months before things started coming apart. Then there's still the "vroom, vroom" part before reassembling. - Grandad
