Re: My humble request for admission to the Starmada: 1972 21' Chieftain OB
Hey guys! I hadn't seen that my thread had been bumped until just now.
I'm doing pretty good, all things considered.
Did have a checkup with the cardiologist last week and the echocardiogram showed no signs of the tumor returning, so that's pretty great! Hopefully won't have to go through that crap again ever! I lucked out as they were able to repair the valve instead of replacing it. The plastic ones are only good for 20 years and pig's valves for 12. I did not want to go through that again 2 or 3 times in my life!
As to the Chieftain, not much has been done except show it to my friends and evict a wasp's nest. I did have to remove the upper windshield to fit it fully under a carport and be within code regulations. That took a little while but the code officer was very easy to work with on an extension.
On the plus side, my brother is moving back from Costa Rica soon, will have a lot of free time, and wants to help out on the boat!
I've still got a few months before I'll be able to really rip into things solo, much less be out on the water by myself, so with his help hopefully we can at least get the transom pulled and replaced by the time I'll be able to feel comfortable on the water. If the Merc 115 on it right now is dead I'll at least be able to clamp on my much, much newer 15hp Merc and be able to put the boat out to camp. And check for leaks.

My birthday is in a little over two months and that marks almost exactly 6 months from the procedure. There also happens to be a 2 day music festival at the local lake. With any luck she'll be floating there under some kind of power. But I'm trying to keep my expectations realistic, so it's not a plan, so much as a dream. I did join a gym for the first time ever as it turns out your upper body turns into jello after 2+ months of non-activity!
