Hello all,
I took my 1969 Fishmaster and 1956 Johnson javelin fishing this weekend with my dad. We went to a lake we have never fished with a boat.
Everything went great Friday and Saturday the old motor was running PERFECT.
We decided to fish yesterday morning for a few hours before ending our fishing/camping weekend.
The lake is divided in 2 parts by a damn with a small tunnel to pass through... well as i was about to enter the canal i swung around one point a little to far and the next thing i know BAM the sound of the motor and prop hitting a rock...this lasted for about 5 seconds before i could cut the motor off via the choke...
After getting the motor up and free and using the trolling motor to navigate I looked at the motor and it seemed fine a few gouges on the prop but nothing bent or major..
I put the motor back down and started her right up!! but when i hit the gas the prop BARELY turned almost none at all and we were dead in the water...
So we tried to use the trolling motor to fish but the 25 mph+ winds were not helping...I did start the motor a couple of times bc it did help when trying to get back to the boat ramp...but it did little if nothing...
With the boat out of the water and in gear i can turn the prop and it turns the motor over but when running it doesnt spin like it should...
So what likely happened and what do i need to do to fix it? instructions on how to fix it??
Sorry for the long read I figured id type a story versus saying "my prop hit a rock and now it wont turn"
Thanks in advance for your help!
EDIT: also the motor is now leaking black grease all around the LU
