Hey Jon,

I just read your entire thread today, very cool boat... Your doing super pro work dude! I love the PVC to run electrical and such... I'll soon be flipping my hull to fix some keel damage, and paint. Then on to some interior re-design.

Have a great holiday, and I look forward to your progress!

PS the seats look way better with the 4" cut of them.

Peace~!

Thanks bear ........ I am trying my best but I am far from a pro ... lol. I agree that the seats do look better cut down. There were no seats in it when I bought it so it's just a guessing game as far as how high they should be. They feel comfortable and I guess that's what counts.

Good luck on your keel repair and thanks for stopping by ......... Merry Christmas!

Thanks Kent ..... work has slowed down a bit due to the fridged Ohio weather but I did manage to get the sides of the sole closed in. I also started mounting some of the electronics into box under the bow. I have to order some wire and cables for the battery and then I will be able to start connecting everything. I need to make some kind of mount or box or somethng for the battery and the fuel tank but don't know what I am going to do yet.

Thanks Woody ..... I thought it would be easier then trying to crawl under the bow to change a fuse or something. I have a question ... do you have any drawings or ideas for mounting the battery and securing the gas tank? I just want something simple so they don't slide around. I have a few ideas but not sure I like them yet ... lol.

hi jon...

for a tank mount....and a battery mount.....just make partitions on each side of the boat.

for the tanks side.....as long as you can easily slide the tank in and out, and have good vision to see the float level.

for the batt....i like to have a separate piece of ply or metal sitting above the deck to put my batterys on. you can put holes in them for a metal threaded rod tie down. or eye hooks for a strap or bungee cord.

some people use a wooden door to the compartments...some use a curtain.

the options are open

Hey oops! ..... I have seen that before where they tuck them under the splashwell and then hang a curtin or even vinyl sheet to hide them but I don't have a splashwell so I would have to build the entire enclosure and I am trying to keep it as simple as possible and not add anymore weight.

Thanks fstorm ..... I don't know how hard it is going to be to wire everything but I think it will work out ok. I am going to make most of the connections to the fuse block before I mount the box.

Like oops said I'm glassin a sacrificial pad to the deck to mount the holder on.

I've got two of the old metal tanks like above. I am going to glass in a pad and either use nylon straps or bungies to hold em in place. Pads will basically be 3/4" Arauco ply with the edges beveled 45? and glassed to the sole, then painted with Rustoleum. I have a very small splashwell so I'm just gunna place em, strap em and go.

Jon, I like the fuse box bow deck compartment I may try something like that myself . Is that just grey primer over wood or is it glassed?
You still got a little room forward the box for storage or a place to hide that fish from the G/W .. Just kidding ! ..... or am I.. :D
Great progress Jon!!

Hey Woody ....... that batt tray is exactly what I was looking for and that is the same tank that I have. I am going to make a pad also and mount two i-bolts, one on either side of the tank and then just use a bungee. Thanks for the ideas .... I hope you don't mind if I borrow them.

Hey sp ..... now that you noticed the grey I will have to explain. I am not sure about it yet but here is my plan which is subject to change: My boat is only 13' so all it took for my sole was one 4x8 sheet for the bottom and half a sheet for the sides and I kind of want to be able to take it out if I have to so ....... I have ss screws holding the sides to the rail and the sole to the metal stringers. I used PL to mount the sides to the sole. I used 5200 on all the screw holes. I then coated everything with thick heavy coats of porch paint. I am going to put in an outdoor carpet that I will either snap or velcro in so I can remove it to dry it out if needed. If it last 5 years and I have to replace it then it won't be a big deal.

I know the glassers on here are going to have something to say about it and I welcome that. Like I said .... I may change my mind and glass it but for now this is the path I am on.

Ditto on the gray paint. I like gray because it's relatively light, but it won't drive you insane trying to keep clean like a white sole and it should reduce the glare a bit too. Where did you get the paint itself? Does have a particular name/brand? Looks great! Thanks for the pics.
