Re: Need Smart Tabs Installation Pictures for New Website
I certainly appreciate all of this support, and want to thank each of you.

It is a bit sad when we (the consumers , and that includes me) are not served well by the companies, stores, manufacturers etc. which then leaves us with a non trusting attitude. It makes it difficult for those who do try. I am not offend, I simply make the assumption that we have not been clear in our communications. And the Lord knows that a number of my so called "jokes" where less than funny.

Regarding OEM Sales: We do sell a few, but for the most part, they take the attitude that the motor and their great hull design is not in need of trim tabs. Keep in mind that our target market is boat under 22'. As long as the boat will plane (regardless of how long it takes or at what speed, or how high the bow rises) it does not need trim tabs. Frankly they have been telling the story so long that they actually believe it. I have posted my opinion on why you do not see trim tabs on more small boats before, and it is rather simple.

It is :
1) Cost
2) Horse Power to Weight ratio
Small boats typically have 2 1/2 times the horse power to weight as the larger (30' +) cousin, therefore they will plane.
3) Safety - Small light fast boats will react very quickly to changes in tab positions at higher speeds. This could cause safety issues.

Although Smart Tabs can not create a safety problem since you can not misuse them, The dealers and Manufacturers will tell you " Our Boats don't need trim tabs". I guess need is a matter of opinion, if it floats it has performed the basic function of a boat and trim tabs do not help it float.

If you guys want to see what we are up against, call your boat (your brand) manufacturer and / or dealer and ask them about trim tabs especially on a boat under 22'.
