Re: New Job, 501 Constellation, Good and Bad.

Captain, good move. Us 53 yr. old guys can't do all the things we used to, now can we.

Good point, Swabbie. I still can't get it thru my head though. I still feel young at heart. I just may never grow up! ;)

I'm taking Kimi, her son Colt, and a couple of his friends to a sandbar located just inside an inlet where the water is crystal clear. We are going to stay on the hook for the night, do some bottom cleaning, and let them do some more spearfishing. The boys enjoy looking at the bikinis that hang out there on the weekends. I just look at Kimi.

Sounds like a good time is going to be had by all. :)

Hi to Kimi and the boys!

I think it's time Kimi joined the iboats fraternity, I (we) want to know what our favorite "Captain" is really like. :D

Hey, if my WV hillbilly gal can do it so can you. I don't know if grannyd has even posted 10 times but she's here somewhere..........!!!???

Yeh, no worries, veritas honus. I found an exact replacement size water heater. She has been in for a few weeks now.

I think I'm going to take her out this weekend for an overnighter on the hook. Kimi is busy and I would like to see how I handle this thing single-handed at the dock. Leaving will be easy. Upon return I figure on having a fellow boater on standby at the dock in case I need him. If it is a calm as I expect it will be, then I should have no problem....I said.......SHOULD!

Problems you can handle... I wonder, though, can you actually handle a nonproblematic situation? Would you even know what to do?

The poor Amusement has been lonely lately. I can hear her needing attention from my house. She is still sitting at the dock from my last trip. We are planning a weekend trip not far away for a bottom cleaning party. Not so much a party party, just a cleaning party.

Kimi on iboats? She is a fun loving gal with a great sence of humor. I'm not sure you can handle her, Swabbie.;)

Check for her soon! Probably on the FL gathering.

Take care, buddy!

Well, she joined and posted, but didn't even address your request... So, I'll take the liberty of doing that.

He is EXACTLY as he seems. I can't think of any better way to describe him. Only thing better than posting with him, is hangin' with him!!!...

When sasto, mrs sasto, and my family first met, that night it felt as though we had known each other all our lives. We've been life long friends all our lives. We just discovered this in June!!!:D:D:D

+2. He is exactly like you think he is...and that's a good thing.

It sure is... You and your family, nlain and his family, mnypitboat... There was no "What did I get myself in to" thoughts. I think we all made a terriffic little crew. The only suprise was, WOW... These people are all exactly as they portray themselves to be!!! I can't say I wasn't ready for that suprise, though... As strange as that may sound. Sometimes, you just know. This turned out to be one of those times, and I just happened to be correct.:)

So to all of you... Thank you for being YOU!!!

...or would that be yous... you's? How 'bout Yous Guys... Yeah, that's it.;)

CWWWWAP!!!... Just 'jacked another thread, didn't I?:facepalm::p

Re: New Job, 501 Constellation, Good and Bad.

Sad to say that I am as I portray. Happy to say you guys are exactly as I figured, that's wonderful!

Why sad?

Some friends and I went up the ICW Saturday evening to an inlet. My plans were to anchor out in crystal clear water for the night. Sunday morning I was going to dawn the scuba gear and clean the bottom.

I had previously ran the anchor winch and took a gander at the anchor chain. The bossman has never used it. I had one on the bow and one tending the anchor locker, just to be sure all was well. At slack tide the depth was 7 feet. At 10' of chain they came upon a knot in the chain. Straightened out the knot and proceded to let out more chain. Came to another knot. A rusted ball of chain it was. We tied off. Nobody seemed to know how much chain I had out, including me.I took an inspection of the rode and determined it to be sufficient. We hung out for awhile during incoming tide to be sure all was well.

I felt confident enough and we loaded into a dingy and headed to get a bite to eat. Another boater was near me and he and his wife were going to be hanging out on their boat for the evening. I gave him my business card and ask him is he saw anything please give me a call. He was happy to do so.

I ordered my food , been there 20 mins, and here comes my lookout guy. Says the boat broke loose and is moving at a good clip. I jumped into the dingy with a helper and made a beeline to Amusement. She was headed for the rocks. I quickly boarded her, fired up the engines and held my ground using the gears. The others ate their dinner. I decided to pull anchor and head to the marina for the night. I pulled up about 20'......Yup, 20' of anchor rode.

I was unable to clean the bottom at high tide as planned. Todays job......Stretch the chain down the dock, inspect it and do any repair/replace that needs to be done and return for a cleaning.

I'll try to post some photos of what I find later.

Wow...anchoring troubles abound. Your with the corroded chain and mine with the windlass yesterday. Good thing you had someone who was decent enough to watch the ship for you. Some would have just said "sure" and left later. Glad all worked out well for you.

Wow! That would have been interesting to see. Glad to hear that you were able to save her before she ran aground on those rocks.

Nicely done captain.

Now, if only you had that deck hand, passed out on the couch with empty Sam Adams bottles scattered about, you could have enjoyed that dinner. :D

I'm thankful for the friends/crew I had around me at the time, Swabbie! Mr. Sam Adams showed up after I settled for the night. He still hurts!

Captain when I got the message notification I read some and knew where ya were headed..lol

When I go on the hook and venture into the water with the other, I keep on hand on the swim platform, just in case she decides to move on.

No matter you got to love sea stories
