Nice looking rig, congrats on the new job:)

Looks like a few new parts and she will be on her way. Good luck with her!

Thank you, Huron Angler. She will fill a void we needed filled. Fishing is getting hard on this sore body.

waste vents.jpg Here is a photo of the waste vent loops which are overhead the generator battery. I can't think of anything to do other than covering the battery (which it should be anyway).

Is there anything that can be done about this set-up? I suppose she has been like this for almost 25 years. Dosen't mean it's right.

Some stanchions need rebedding. I was thinking of using epoxy in the screws. Any suggestions?

Congratulations again, sasto!!!

She's a beautiful boat. Looks like you've got plenty of little things here and there to keep you busy.

Is there room to reroute the waste vent loops? Is there room or an appropriate place to relocate the battery? Of course, as you've already pointed out, the battery should be covered anyway. Battery boxes fit in just about the same space as the battery itself.

You've got much more experience with all of this than I, but what are your thoughts on 3M4000 or 5200 to fill the screw holes prior to setting the screws?

I don't get it... I was on the forum several times throughout the night on Sunday, the 6th. This thread was posted at 1038hrs Sunday morning. I don't know how I missed it.

PS: ...and by the way, thanks for the honorable mention, sasto:D

Yeah I agree with Veritas...some 5200 will keep new stainless screws in tight for many moons.

BTW what's her cruising speed? :D

Hi veritas honus.

Almost impossible to move the vents, but, after some research......I found I can rebuild them. I found a wood lid in the machinery compartment for the battery. The lid is from 1988 and still in working order. Go figure.

Yup. I used 52..gooo..hundred on the screws today. I was thinking epoxy to penetrate into the core, but I recieved no comments and was unsure. Went with what I thought best. Maybe next time I may float some epoxy in the screw bed and use 5200.

I've been hanging out all day on her, and into the night, checking her out.....I hear the freshwater pump cycling every 10 mins or so.

Good day to you, my friend

I'd be doing the same thing if I had the good fortune to be in your position. I'd be getting to know every square inch of the vessel, become familiar with every vibration and sound she makes. You're obviously doing that... Great minds think alike;).

Cool breeze and calm seas to you, my Friend

5200 it was, Huron Angler

I havn't taken her out yet, will next week for a joyride. She reportedly does 13kts at 1300rpm burning 15 gals per hour. Pretty amazing fuel consumption.

Thanks, veritas honus. I slept on her last night and at 3AM I located the freshwater leak. Fortunately the leak is in a bilge area and no water damage is done. These old polybutylene fittings are going to need to be changed out to the newer Quest fittings.

Have a good day!

Sasto,

Super nice ride. That is on of my favorite boats. It looks in great shape but I am a little suprised by some of the neglect in the mechanical area. As far as the vent loops go, you need to get them up right for sure if there is room. Keep us posted on your efforts.

Hi Greg,

I think there is nothing I can do with the vents, that I can come up with....Yet. She has been this way for almost 25 years. I'm figureing if they are in good order they shouldn't be leaking. I ordered new valves for them, I hope this solves the problem.

If you would look at the boat, you would think she is pristine, but when you get down and do some crawling around in the bilges, this is what you find.

Thanks for the response!

Is there room to put a small bracket of some kind (L-shaped) to be able to get them 90 degrees. I can't tell how much room is below them from the pic. Sorry.

I respect your opinions, Greg. I'll post a photo of what I have.
