what do i think ????????....... I think i want to move aboard the boat......thats what i think

Come on down...oops! We could use you around here. The problem we have is guys move here to work, start enjoying the good life too much, work when they feel like it, and nothing gets done.

You think she looks good in the pics, you should get on her. That is one beautiful boat.

Thanks, nlain. She is really looking better each week.

Update on PolyGlow I applied instead of buffing and waxing.

It really looked good for a couple months and started wearing off. I reapplied a couple more coats and she shines again. So far in my case I think I did the right thing. Buffing and waxing this boat properly would have taken me a couple weeks. The PolyGlow in about half that time.

I'm not recommending this to anybody yet.....time will tell.

Changed the oil in the engines yesterday. Going diving to clean the bottom and change zincs today. Water temps around 70, I prefer at least 80.

She needs to go for a ride this weekend. Been sitting a couple months. I need to find myself a mate. This is a busy time of the year around here. I just may give her a try solo.

This is not the first review like this I've heard on that stuff. We had another member apply it to his sleekcraft. It looks awesome but then went bad. He ended up stripping all of it off.

By the way, you really must remedy that "new TV sitting on top of old TV" situation. Ghetto :p

Ye, ezmobee, I read the thread and your recommendations to others not to use PolyGlow. I plan to keep up with it till I can't stand it any longer. So far I'm liking it, but I'm afraid in the near future I may regret it.

Getto? Oh I agree. I have some ideas but the owner is not well. I have no plans on making any changes without his consent. After looking at it for sometime, it kinda goes away. Thanks for reminding me!:p....back at ya!:)

Wow... It has been a while, hasn't it?

She (Amusement) looks great. The a/c's freezing up on us in September now has some explanation. I'm glad you figured out.

So when are we all getting together again?

Hi veritas honus,

I thought I would work on her today instead of taking her out for the night. I'll do that the first of the week when I can go to a favorite spot and have some peace.

Going to work on the flybridge and find the water leak that's coming into the salon.

Looks like I will be headed to Ga. after the New Year. I would like to make a stop to see you.:D

What part of Ga are you coming to and by boat or car. If you are coming up my side and depending on when you pass through we may be able to get together some where for a quick visit. :D

Hi nlain,

Be heading your way....Savanah to pick up a boat. The plan is for me to stay a week and head south. Will call you soon.

I think the first of the week I'm going to take Amusement out solo and drop the hook for a night. I'm looking for some "lone time" and need the expierence.

Several lightbulbs are getting changed today, and I mean several. Some have large panels that need to be removed. In the photo of the curtains you can see a panel on the overhead. There are 2 of them which have 4 lights each. I think only 1 or 2 are working in each.

If the funds are available from the bossman you might go with LED. I can see two big benefits in a marine application. First, they last and don't need changing as often and second, they draw significantly less wattage. Actually a third possible benefit comes to mind... they should be more resistant to breakage in comparison to regular or CFL bulbs. (And they don't contain mercury.)

They are expensive bastards though...

4) They don't put out the heat like standard/halogen bulbs

Re: New Job, 501 Constellation, Good and Bad.

Sasto,

Just caught up on your thread. Sounds like you are having a grand time. Keep on enjoying.

A note about the LEDs, they are 12V lights. I am not sure what voltage your lights are around and through your boat. Most boats that size have 36V systems and not 12 V systems. I am sure you know this but I imagine that you have a mix of voltages varying from 12-36VDC and probably some 110VAC on your 501. Make sure you check the voltage requirements of the lights before buying LEDs.

Also, regarding the Poli-Glo. I use this stuff all the time and I have had no issues with it. Constant washing with harsh detergents or degreasers will cause it to wear away. That's normal. But the beauty is you just wipe on a few more coats and you are back in business.

Have a great holiday brother!!

Hi Greg,

Appreciate your imput and concern. Haven't seen you around in awhile. All my DC lighting is 12V. I ran a boat with 24V lighting and it was difficult locating bulbs in far away places. Yes, each room has AC and DC lighting, common practice.

That's good to hear about the PolyGlow. It has made a world of difference in her appearance. So far it has taken very little effort to keep her that way. How long have you been using it?

I'll take your advice and have a great holiday....and you do the same my friend.

Re: New Job, 501 Constellation, Good and Bad.

Cool! I figured you knew the voltage but I just wanted to bring it up for general consumption.

I have been using the poly glow for about 3 years and it has worked well. I usually put it on in the spring and it lasts until the next spring. I wash my boat often so it does get a little thin in some spots but that is to be expected. But overall the shine holds up pretty well and it is much easier to keep clean.

Thanks!

That's good news, Greg. The longer she shines the happier I am. I've been getting compliments on how well she looks. Everybody thinks I put alot of time in her, but not really. I think I spend more time diving to clean the bottom than cleaning the topsides. I use mild boat soap about once a month, and just hose her down once a week.

We decided to replace 4 A/C units. Just can't justify keep repairing the old ones. I worked out a good deal. $1200 each....vs. $2000 for the best online price I could find.
