What is the bolt spacing on the diagonal? Typically a 4 lug wheel is on 4" spacing.

When I measure the hole pattern diagonally I get 3 3/4". Thank you for the guidance.
Also thanks to everyone for the encouraging replys.

Finished the trailer except for the safety chains. Hope to get the boat flipped and back on the trailer soon.

I like the rebuilt tag, a nice touch. Good as new again!

What did you end up doing for the axle hubs/bearings and wheels?

Thank you, I had some brass tags left over from when I made tags for my sons water dogs. Now I can remember when it was rebuilt.
I decided to just rebuild the old hubs. There was nothing wrong with the hubs other than needing bearings ,races and grease seals. I did drill and tap the back side for 1/4-20 grease zerk. I removed all the old paint from the hubs and wheels with an assortment of wire brushes, then sanded. The inter and outer bearings are both 1 " but non standard thickness. I wanted timken bearings so I had to order them. I replaced the tires with a load range C tire, not that I needed it but they were the same price as the range B.
I still don`t have a spare tire. I mounted the tires tubeless so I can handle a puncture flat. Don`t know what I`ll do if I have a blow out. Hopefully I wan`t have to deal with it.

I am going to crank the Mark 58a on the stand without controls but wanted to ask ( Do I need to disconnect the rectifier first ? ) Thank you.

On the start up - You pulling the rope or using the starter?

Rope start - Disconnect one of the yellow wires from the stator to the rectifier.

Electric start - Leave it all connected. The battery will protect the rectifier. I guess you will jumper the solenoid - Don't jump when the starter engages. LOL

I will be jumping the positive battery cable and S terminal on the solenoid with a remote starter. The battery will be hocked up and with the battery charger on. ( The motor is on a stand with no controls)

Just leave the rectifier hooked up.

Make some 2 stroke smoke! LOL

I'm leery of leaving a battery charger hooked up when running any motor these days. I had a newer smart charger go the way of the scrap pile last year by doing that. I liked that charger too!

If the charger has a Start function, it should be OK. Or make sure the battery is fully charged.

A suggestion - If your stand has a tub, use muffs for the first start and first few minutes while running. After the dead bugs, mouse nests, spiders and whatever are blown out, then fill the tub with water. Personal experience starting a long dormant motor.
