I tried to post a video or me cranking the 58a. I disconnected the rectifier and just had the water hose connected for cooling, it fired right up after I choked it. After it ran for a minute I shut it down and disconnected the hose, then placed it in a tub. Fired right back up but the impeller isn`t working.

Thank you GA_ Boater
This was with the low speed idle screw one turn out after rebuild.I replaced the impeller years ago but never started the motor. I need to do it again because it doesn`t pump with the hose off and in a tub.Had to order the spanner wrench and impeller.

Finished for now. I`m ready to put it in the water but will most likely wait until spring. Haven`t decided what to do about a windshield. A few pictures, thanks for looking.

I'd say she looks as good as when your Dad finished building her.

You counting days now? :D

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I don`t know if my father would approve or not but I`m sure he would be pleased that it has survived this long. Wish he were here to help re-splash it. In honor of my father AHO 1910-1992 I placed this Seabee decal on the stern. He was on Okinawa in 45.

I was going to ask about the decal, now we know. Nice honor and remembrance of your Dad.

She turned out beautifully! Can't wait to see the splash!

Did you get the motor pumping water? I'm not familiar with Mercury at all. I'm a JohnnyRude guy. But a very common problem with running OMC motors in a barrel is folks not having the water level high enough. The actual water pump itself must be submerged. It's not enough to just have the water intake under water. Again, I'm not sure this is true for Mercury but it has tripped up a lot of OMC folks.

Cheers.......................Todd

Thank you , I haven`t actually started the motor since I replaced the impeller so I`m just assuming I did it right . The old one was old and hard as a rock .I also have a few johnsons, a 73 4hp- 83 15hp and 65 18hp in progress.
