As a product of the late 60s and 70s in Canada, hard not to vote for one of our own...after all the weren't named "A Band" they were The Band

For a tight sound you can't beat early Chicago (anything before Chicago 15). But I like all of their stuff. Always my favorite.

I also like some mentioned before:
The Beatles (early stuff not the druggie era)
Glen Miller or almost any other Big Band from the '40s

Also, the Beach Boys have to be mentioned here.

While a teenager in SoCal, the "punk" scene was vibrant and alive, my fav underground band that I saw maybe 30 times in small clubs, then big venues was "X"...awsome vocals and lyrics that made you listen..First album produced by Ray Manzerick, Doors keyboardist (Met him at the Whiskey a Go Go on Sunset before a show)

Thank God I didnt see one Bruce Springsteen comment...lol

Blues is my absolute favorite genre of music, but as far as a band goes Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers would get my vote. I dig all of their music, but from Wildflowers & up is my favorite. I'm really looking forward to their next blues based album set to release June 15th

Best Rock - Clutch - If you like blues fueled hard rock, check these guys out.

Best Solo - Bob Marley

And for a genre no one else has listed yet...hip hop.

Best hip hop- Cypress Hill with an honorable mention to Jurassic 5
